The Boyfriend - Episode 9

Comments

John Marquez

Ikuo seems a good guy but he overstepped a lil bit and that’s because he is emotionally invested. He realized he likes dai and that’s fair, i just don’t like the way he stated I will never do the way things shun does to you. Like girl why bring shun in your confession. lol. Dai is a sweetheart, he knows how to navigate shuns feelings, and shun is just shun lol. I am baffled sometimes but knowing his story, I understand him and I can never hate him. Even now, people have been criticizing shuns shirt problem but in a recent interview he shares that he doesn’t have much like shirts etc. as he said in the ep, it might be trivial for some but it’s a big thing for him - like sharing even though you have little to share.

I love rewatching this show with you. I actually felt emotionally invested (within reason and normality) with these guys. They all seem like such good people. This episode was a little tricky for me. I understood Ikuo's motives for butting in weren't malicious, but I also still felt like it wasn't his place. I'm not sure if Ikuo's later confession to Dai tainted any of those good intentions of his for stepping into Dai and Shun's argument, but I will admit it made me wonder a bit and shake my head a little after admitting that he also had feelings for Dai.

I can understand 😌 Ikuo's good intentions albeit misguided due to his personal feelings for Dai. He's like a second lead in a series that looks good on paper and by all accounts seems like the better option for the male lead perhaps but the heart wants what it wants and Shun probably needs someone like Dai in his life as opposed to Izuo. It is hard liking someone and seeing them choose someone else only to from the outside looking in appears to get hurt time and again. Still not Izuo's place to make that decision for Dai.

It's 5:30am & I can finally say I've watched "The Boyfriend ". I love it, it's totally worth the hype. Although I'm glad I binged it all in 1 go in the same night. I don't know how ppl were able to handle this on a weekly basis.

I was cool with Ikuo until the confession part. Dont get me wrong, He has every right to confess his feelings to whoever he wants but it's the way he confessed that left a bad taste. He basically included Shun into his confession which is a bit crazy cuz he's literally confessing to a person that is in love with Shun. Because of his confession, idk if I can say his intention in trying for Shun and Dai to talk was as genuine as I thought before.
