Tita, resistance is futile. I love your objections along the way (I thought them as you said them aloud in real time) and yet it will be what it will be. Regarding the little psycho, of course I would not want to cross him irl, but I am sympathetic to him in the narrative. He was different from everyone else and imprinted like a duckling on Mr Sheng as a young child. That connection, the only one it seems he's felt (although he does seem to have a sibling energy bond with Shen), has informed all of his life decisions. And as it happens, he has developed godlike powers, but he's still also in his heart the little weirdo who can only relate to Sheng.
