I think they are in a loop somehow. The mgr of the dormitory remember him (from the past) in the present on ep1. So ‘her’ memory of him came before he traveled now. As for the ‘uncle’ is a weird translation in this case. he is calling him 아저씨 (ajeossi) which is normally a middle man age or a big gap in age between two people. That’s why JH is upset of being called that. Normally children and teens use it for the ‘older’ people. I say this because, I think it will be a big key.
