I initially thought that maybe Koichi became a zombie because of his love for Mitsuru, maybe he wanted to accomplish a lot of things with him while he was alive and as long as 'he hasn't accomplished his goals, he won't be able to be at "peace"... A bit like dramas with ghosts that they need to accomplish something to be able to leave in peace but your assumption seems more plausible...

This episode was so chilling. I would be so freaked out. When he was lying there in the blood i screamed. Yeah I don’t see this series ending in any other way but us in tears. I like how nobody is freaked out he’s dead.

We gonna cry lots Tita! I might have bawled already this episode if it weren’t for koichi’s hilarious antics lol. I still feel like what I said last episode is true, it really just might be his imagination or a visual representation of what happened after accident but only with Koichi appearing before us. The whole class knows he is dead, so it’s only a matter of time they’ll forget him, and the next episode he’s just going on a memory train back to the camping. Seems they already confessed to each other. Going crazy with possible stories but we are here for the ride.

Yes, it's probably something like that. It will be devastating when Mitsuru finally has to let go. 😭💔
