I don’t think Doc and Doc Senior were in a romantic relationship. It’s seems more as senior benefited a lot from Jin but not the other way around. For not saying used him. And people around them noticed that too. I think the lesson Doc is learning is to be clear on his feelings because maybe that’s his regret not having spoken before and lived years in that ‘limbo’ (acting as in a relationship but seen as a friend)
