Cooking Crush - Episode 7

Okay, Ten’s sarcasm at the supermarket? Very funny! Chang Ma’s basil tutorial? I love Basil, I’m totally good with that, and am trying to find where I can get potted Thai and or Holy Basil to grow here next summer, along with the Italian Basil we grow every year. Next: finally we have a lead couple not just kissing, but actively making out! I mean other than in Only Friends which doesn’t count, as it was seen as somewhat apart from the rest of the GMMTV BLs, it’s great to have this in a more typical GMMTV BL! So, Fire is getting drunk (and then cared for) in an abandoned 24-hour bookshop? Okay, I’m fine with that since the segment with Dynamite is so drunkenly tender, sweet, and funny. (Neo lying prostate on the floor of the bathroom? I don’t care how much cleaning was done there first, that is both scary and hilarious!) The scene with Ten and his dad on the balcony, and especially Prem’s reaction to it is what really made me care suddenly. Great acting by two of GMMTV’s best in front of Prem’s house. The Fire wake-up scene was well judged too, he’s still a bit caustic now that he’s sober again, and despite him being callous to Dynamite, you can tell he’s moved a big step closer to no longer treating Dynamite that way. So, now that things are more serious, here’s hoping Cooking Crush continues as a more layered dramedy, I’m liking the new lane we’re in. Next week’s preview does hint that we’re embracing more drama still, while also debuting the oven-mit cam. That’s an innovation that Thailand can likely claim as its own! Looking forward to episode 8!

A bit overdramatic, lol, but so is love, so the stakes and the emotion and the relatability of this episode all harmonized and resonated quite well for me. The father should have spoken to Ten first and given him a chance to balance both his studies and his relationship before being an asshole, but you can see why he didn't as the Type A, demanding personality he is, so it's still understandable and makes sense. Gun is so effortlessly sad and emotional, and he always makes me cry too. It's not just a cute series, they made sure there was also ACTING. lol. And I do love Off in these roles with Gun where the dynamic becomes him being so earnest and HUNGRY (lol). AS HE SHOULD BE. The reunion will be lovely next episode, although, maybe they should have waited to give Off the mullet until AFTER the time jump to his internship, ha.

Yeah I had to do a double take to see if it really was a mullet that they gave Off, lels. 😅😝
