Heya everyone.

After several weeks of work and communication with a properly learned literary pro, I've worked over or at least touched everything in every story lore bible I have, and finally its all in a state I think is acceptable. I've had more "Duh, why didn't I do that?" moments this week than the rest of my life put together it feels like. Being real, I'm left in the uncomfortable position of seeing a lot of mistakes in older parts of stories that I could change, but it would fundamentally alter the stories everyone knows and (I hope) loves.

I've seen how re-writes go in situations like this, and rarely does it end with a complete story. That in mind, I've decided against doing a major re-write of Borne of Caution or anything else, despite my own distaste for some parts. I said awhile ago that I expected BoC to be my weakest offering to the fic scene due to my lower skill when I began it, but I didn't expect it to be as profoundly true as it is now.

I'm not planning on dropping Borne of Caution, so let me put that fear to rest. I will get it finished, and perhaps a sequel or spin-off will get to enjoy being done a bit better from the get-go.

Again, I can't thank you all enough for being so patient. My last chapter drafts have been torn up for not being up to par, but the 1k words I got down today came so damn easy.

Back soon with something for you,Fuggmann.

Glad to hear from you. Looking forward to seeing the results after your personal "training arc" ❤️. With BoC getting a good overhaul, should we be looking forward to 3SaBS as the next release?

I've got to say I'm glad you aren't doing a rewrite. While I'm sure improvements can be made, as you mentioned rewrites rarely go well. I've seen them myself and quite frankly they rarely even finish rewriting, let alone continue the story to completion. It's a pretty much guaranteed path to burnout.

Small suggestion ignore if you want: if possible what could you do with coming chapters that would make the things you see as mistakes seem like they were always part of your plan?

I agree that a rewrite now wouldn't be the best idea from what I've seen, but maybe you when you do finish BoC, then you could do a "directors cut" version that has the stuff you want redone? As someone who has a hard time re-reading stuff because I remember it too well and it gets tedious, that would be nice, different enough to be cool but not taking away from what you already have. Not sure if that would work with your process or make you want to write it over the current but something I'd be glad to see, either way, glad you feel better about your stuff, and have a great day!
