Heya,

Next chapter of Borne of Caution is getting there. I wanted to have it done on the 28th, but now I'm aiming for March 2nd or 3rd. Sorry for the delay, but like the last chapter, there is heavy stuff going on in the story and getting it just right is taking time. I don't want to mess anything critical up and diminish the experience for you. Thank you all for your patience.

As a reminder, after either this chapter or the next, Borne of Caution is going on a short break as Born of Desire and my original story, Polluted Palelight (name still pending) take the spotlight for a bit. I expect Borne of Caution to be coming back in early April.

Thankee Much,Fuggmann.

Take all the time that you need to get it right man! They say that when something becomes your job instead of your hobby, it can lose it’s fun. Last thing any of us want is for that to happen or for you to feel burnt out. We’re not publishers who care about deadlines, we’re regular people that look forward to enjoying your work whenever it’s ready. Appreciate the accountability as always and thank you for giving a great story the time and care that it needs.

BelligerentGnu

Definitely retake your time. Really keeping my fingers crossed Brendan stays smart though.

RaptorusMaximus

Looking forward to seeing this chapter. Take as much time as you need to get it right.

Straven

Take your time, I'd prefer knowing you were and are happy with how things turn out vs not sure.

Kastor

All good, quality is paramount.

Taking a break is important mate, it's always good to rest and reset, even if that means focusing on another project in the meantime. You are a fantastic writer, and BOC is top tier, so I'd rather you write it at your best than try to force things. I'm glad we can support you somewhat financially, I just wish there was a bit more incentive for others as well. I still think you should consider writing 'ahead' and building up a bit of a backlog of chapters that you can offer to people for different prices/tiers here on Patreon. There are a lot of people like myself willing to spend $10-$25 on a few 'advance' chapters. Especially with the length of yours, I'd easily pay $25 NZD for 3-5 chapters ahead. Anyway, have a good one mate.

Richard

I don’t think I would be a patron if that were the case. One of fugg’s biggest selling points is that none of his work will be hidden behind a paywall. It would cultivate not only a different type of pay structure (entirely front-loaded every month or so for people to read “ahead”) but also an entirely different community. And one I’m not sure id enjoy being a part of as much as I currently do.

SwiftFate

@Richard It's not exactly a paywall though, it's simply an incentive for those with a bit of disposable income to help support the work he puts in, something a 'few' of us already do for no other reason than support him.. It's not as if 'advance chapters' are locked behind that wall forever, just delayed releases on the usual websites. A schedule is set up, whether that be weekly, monthly or otherwise, and anyone who reads normally then has the option available to them, to simply read ahead. It's a business model that many fanfiction writers use for a reason, because unfortunately, these chapters will never reach publication due to copyright. To me, that isn't fair for a fanfic that is so well written. When a quality work like this comes along, the author puts a lot of time and effort in to it. It's just common sense to make a buck, while offering fair incentives for themselves, and others. A series like this? I can tell you right now that this Patreon will Triple, 'minimum' (More like Quadruple), it's subscribers. The author could EASILY turn this in to a full time job with how many people read this and would be willing to pay for a few extra chapters. And that is NOT an exaggeration, this is quite literally one of maybe..3? 4? Consistently updated and GOOD Pokemon fanfictions. That is a very small competition. Finally, don't get me wrong here, I completely understand Fuggs hesitation and mindset regarding that sort of thing. It's a slippery slope than many authors do fall foul of. But many also don't. There are many with very fair business models, and regardless of what anyone says, the reality of it is we aren't 'paying' for the chapters themselves..We're paying for their time. The time it takes out of real life to write chapters like these is worth a lot. Any author I susbscribe to, I'm not paying for their chapters, I'm paying for the time it takes them to plan, write, edit and publish them. Time they COULD be spending with their partners, family or friends, or simply working a normal 9-5 job to make ends meet.

While I understand why others do the "write ahead" thing, I'm not willing to do so with fanworks. It doesn't seem right to me. I might do that with the upcoming original story, but we'll see.

Fuggmann: there is heavy stuff going on in the story and getting it just right is taking time. Me and my emotions: haha, I’m in danger. But in all seriousness, take all the time you need, we know that you always deliver and I’d rather you be happy with your own work!
