The exquisite pain - whew, this was so good! I have so many thoughts: It’s so disheartening reading the ‘Big Brother’ novel and seeing the happy moments they had as a family, and then seeing how bad it’s gotten. I empathise with Yaseji, because even though I understand why the other Tanaka brothers can’t defend him against Hiro (even though Karasu tried 😭), I wish they empathised with him a bit more. If it were one of Hebi’s partners, Miharu, or even Yaku (if he were still alive), they’d surely feel as angry as Yaseji. Seeing Satsujin stop Karasu was sweet - their bond is wholesome. It’s also interesting that Karasu was the only one somewhat concerned… or maybe they’ve all just grown too used to Hiro/Mamoru’s wrath. I do wonder if the siblings have favorites between each other that determine whether they stand up to Hiro. I know you mentioned Shoto always stood up for his siblings when he could, but it makes me think - if it were Karasu in Yaseji’s place, or even one of the twins, would they feel more inclined to try and calm the situation down.. I wonder what Yaseji meant when he said Hiro doesn’t get to scrutinise him about loving Ichiban more than Shoto. I’m assuming he’s talking about how Hiro loved their mother more than them…. I bet Naya’s loving this 😭😭

Valid crash out Manda. Feels like the other kids are expendable to Hiro. It's hard to feel bad for Hiro's passed trauma when he passed on the generational trauma to his kids. Manda doesn't even know his Uncle was the one who put his husband in the hospital.
