(Preview) Democracy™ | Honest Government Ad (Patreon)

Dear PatronsHere is the audio preview of our latest Honest Government Ad!This is one of our Government™ HGAs where we explore some big topics... like the global state of democracy. This one features 14 governments (which I think is a new record?) with a focus on India (for which we've more requests over the years than I can possibly count)In other news: I had some fairly major surgery at the start of May. Yes, my life's a bag of fun these days. But as you can see from the photo, I didn't let this stop me from bringing you this month's HGA: here I am filming with Zoë wearing my moonboot and riding my knee-scooter (which the kids keep jacking from me). I was bed-bound for 2 weeks, however, so I wasn't able to get the video out before the end of May. Which is why I am sharing this preview with all our patrons, not just those in the Previews Club!I am just putting the finishing touches on the video, so it will be out on the weekend :) Till then, I hope you enjoy the audio preview. Hope you feel much better soon. Not a criticism, but you went a bit light on the state of UK democracy! Please fact check this, but after Corbyn was smeared and discredited as the leader of the Labour in 2019 by the entire media and political class (for wanting to stand on a platform of genuinely progressive social and economic policies, which incidentally included recognition of Palestine). Current Labour leader Keir Starmer once in place went on a purge of all vaguely leftwing people - MPs, candidates for potential seats and party members. MPs and councillors would have their social media scanned by people working for LFI (Labour Friends of Israel) for tweets and posts going over 20 years. Jamie Driscoll (who was a Mayor at the time) was suspended from the party for appearing on the same stage as Ken Loach. Many preferred local candidates in local Labour party groups were barred from running for reasons that were withheld, while preferred centrist or more right wing candidates were parachuted into constituencies. In the past week Diane Abbott was given the whip back but it was briefed to the media she won't be allowed to stand in the constituency she has served for 34 years. Faiza Shaheen was deselected for liking some tweets about Palestine and the green party from before she was selected to stand. Meanwhile the party has selected long term zionist and pro Israel campaigner Luke Akehurst to stand in North Durham. Akehurst has a record of saying deeply offensive things (he deleted over 1000 tweets before he was announced as candidate!) and was one of the key figures in trying to bring down Corbyn. Also in the past 3 months, Labour have welcomed Tory party MPs into the party because those MPs are rightly concerned they will lose their seats in the next election. The past of all these Tory MPs is extremely questionable in terms of what they've supported. To cap it all off, Labour initially supported Israel's "right to self defence" while it began the genocide in Gaza, and the party receives donations to 73 MPs from LFI (see above). Plus donations from private healthcare and other wealthy interests. I hope that's enough for you to chew on if you are thinking of doing an honest ad in advance of the UK GE on 4th July this year. No pressure! With best wishes as ever.

Here in Yankeeland, our convicted felon's supporters want him to establish a dictatorship. They argue that ours is a "constitutional republic," NOT a democracy. So I guess Abraham Lincoln was flat out wrong to say we have a government "OF the people, BY the people, FOR the people"…? In truth, what we have is an oligarchy, in which the dukes and baron in their castles rule everything from our school security to our Supreme Court —thanks to their gobs of mammon.

Hoping you can ditch the boot soon ... though you seem to be doing okay with it as you complete this stellar addition to your wonderful work! And hoping to give "the boot" to a recently convicted felon.

Wow! I'm still recovering and putting away the thoughts of simply burying myself alive - because that's what the shitfuckers would want! You managed to cram so much into such a short time (the only major ones you missed in my mind was Hungary, plus, of course Turkey - and there are so so many more in the worldwide attack on democracy and democratic principles). Nice work on the UK - where the Tory game is that understated but lethal British play. You build so nicely to the US where, as of yesterday, we have convicted one of democracies main opponents for a series of felonies he knowingly committed. He'll appeal but at the very least a bigger spotlight has been shone on him and his sycophants. While I'd prefer a better candidate on the Democratic ticket, it is what it is and the Democrats nailed it yesterday after the NYC jury results with a PR that said: the only thing that will keep the orange man out of the White House is the ballot box - voting is essential, which is also your message! Well done indeed - and this will go viral everywhere when you release the final video!!!

It's good, but I don't think it's sufficiently critical about what passes for 'democracy' in the first place, being usually a mere duopoly by design, "an illusion of choice", with both of our choices effectively pre-selected for us by our oligarchs/plutocrats, our major parties' donor-owners. I join with everyone with wishing you a full recovery!

We all must understand that if Don Feleone (FIRST former POTUS to be convicted of a felony let alone 34 counts!) and his RShit allies steal the USA election autocracies will start prevailing in all the countries mentioned in this HGA. USA Patrons: We must Roe, Roe, Roe the Vote! Do away with the filibuster. Expand SCOTUS to match the Circuits. Fix all this RShit crap.
