Dear Patrons / Previews ClubHere is the preview of the next Honest Government Ad we've produced. (Preview) Canada 2025 Election | Honest Government Adwtf? Our PM just announced our Australian election and we're making a video about Canada?!Well you see, Canada is also having an election - and it will be on April 28, just a few days before ours here in Australia (May 3). And boy is this a consequential election for them, given the shitshow south of their border and Trump's threat to annex them as America's 51st state. And they don't even have preferential voting! So, in recognition of the fact that shitfuckery knows no borders, and in response to a call for help from a Toronto-based satirist, with whom I co-wrote this episode, we snuck this HGA in amid our Australian election coverage. And don't worry, Australia - we've already written our next HGA about our own election, which will come out straight after this one. As always, you're the first to hear this preview so if you have any feedback for me - including sound/music levels, please let me know in the comments! And I'll catch you tomorrow with the final video...Giordano

Solidarity in satire... yep, I'm here for that : )

Burning down White Houses since 1812 😂 It's a sad comment on the times when "different shades of disappointment" look better than the southern alternative. Canada Bonner Chance.

Bingo, Giordano! I especially liked the swipes at His Majesty King Felon and E’loon skuM who are trying to seize Canada, Greenland, and Panama at the behest of their puppet master, the OG “hijo de Putin."

Voting for someone you like instead of someone you hate the least - what a concept! Great HGA and so timely. We need to silence the great sucking sound threatening North America.

Elbows up!! Great work ... you nailed just about everything, including a mention of one of the wars with the US that Canada stopped the US dead in (the other was the US war of independence where Canada held the line) and let's not forget that in that ill thought of War of 1812, the Whitehouse got burned to the ground. I also understand that the GOP strategists have finally done the math and under the current Constitution, a 51st State would get a couple of Senators and a bunch of representatives - and those representatives come out of the capped total number in the House today ... which means a bunch of states would lose some and, guess what? The ones elected from the "51st state" sure would not be GOP in any way. In fact, they'd be pretty hostile to the current US government. It is great to see Canada and Canadians standing up, unlike many other countries who are trying to play the game without realizing that the game is essentially one person gets it all ...

Very eager to see this one! Canada is a well deserved target. I have been living there for 16 years now and let's just say that there is a lot of work to do... They obviously have their own climate denialist party (the Conservatives) but the party in power (the Liberals) are barely better: they only pretend to fight against Climate Change while actively encouraging fossil fuel investments and their new PM repelled the carbon tax they had voted in simply because they were not able to properly explain how it worked (morons). And the situation in Quebec with its Quebec-only parties is not helping any of the parties which could improve the situation to get elected. Anyway, let's watch that video, ahem audio 😉.

Laurent Giroud

I just listened to the audio and it's spot on. However, Canadians love their Conservative and Liberal parties and there is very little awareness of how much those two parties are serving the soup for big corporations. The topic of Climate drift (not change) garners very little attention even when the country is faced with Climate induced disasters (fires and flood). When I talk to people around me I am always astounded that barely anyone knows that last year's Quebec fires doubled Canada's CO2 emissions: the canadian media are doing a horrible job of putting the real issues on the table. Also, yup, the indigenous "issue" is obviously a pain point. The government has been producing ads to celebrate indigenous cultures while keeping very silent about the fact that their ability to control which resources are mined lands that they are supposedly overseeing are nothing but entirely suppressed. Few people seem to care about that issue alas. To be clear, there are canadians whose knowledge and hearts are on the right side and I am glad to be friends with such creatures but they are not the majority, at least not in my social circles.

Russia's bitch's bitch. Perfection. This is fantastic! Can't wait for the video.

I’m sure my Canadian friend will love it

WOW! Nicely done! For anyone interested in some great insights into the situation between the US and Canada, Paul Krugman, award winning economist has been posting some excellent analysis on his Substack: https://open.substack.com/pub/paulkrugman/p/teslafying-us-exports https://open.substack.com/pub/paulkrugman/p/a-mind-is-a-terrible-thing-to-lose https://open.substack.com/pub/paulkrugman/p/worthwhile-canadian-observations His musical codas at the end of his posts are a treat! 🛑 Full HGA posted to YouTube while I was writing this so I posted these links in the HGA's comments!

There are two big things I've followed and worked on for my entire adult life: West Asia, and proportional representation in Canada. I always remind my children that in first-past-the-post you can only ever vote AGAINST something. I, and a sizeable group of other folk, even joined the Liberal party during the leadership race just so we could ensure proportional representation stays an issue. Only one of the candidates hadn't actively opposed it, and the guy who won is neither for nor against. The party platform, as voted on by the membership, has included a call to form a national citizen's assembly on electoral reform for years. The time will come, and thanks to folk like y'all the notion will stay on Canadians' minds. Y'all don't HAVE to do anything you're doing. But y'all do it. Thank you. Again. Always.

Hi Justin, thank you for all the work you've done for electoral reform in Canada! It's an honour to be able to lend a hand where we can!
