Opportunistic Pigeon

'Authorised by that runty kid who Elon Musk bullied in high school" but worded more cleverly.

Bec Smith

Authorised by the department of poorly chosen initialisms.

Paul Nugent

China introduced a bucket of incentives for EVs and escooters several years ago to reduce air pollution in the cities and I saw cleverly jerry rigged transport buses to run on and off overhead wires like a tram by raising a crude charging arm when on streets with the electric cable and lowering when driving down other streets in Beijing. A contrast with China who is pretty topical might be a red rag for future reference?

Jon Gray

Authorised by the department of Fossil Fuel Fondlers.

Robert Bismuth

Brilliant. Taxing EVs because the drivers don't pay for petrol? Hmmm not only does that discourage buying an EV but it also forgets what most people seem to forget: EVs need power and I'm guessing you have to pay for power in Oz plus pay tax on the power you use. So, effectively it is even worse as the EV owners do pay tax on their "fuel" since they have to get all that electromotive force from their power utilities. So I'm guessing this is "Authorized by the Department of Excessive Virulent Stupidity", or something better than that ;-)

Peter Todd

Authorised by the Coal-Rollers Club of Australia.

So, as a voter outside of the "major" parties, I totally see your point of criticising the Vic govt, I just hope you don't find yourself in a diehard, defend labor at all costs shitstorm.

Ellejoy W

Some of these Authorised by suggestions are bloody funny

Laurence Ranking

Is this how propaganda gets people? It just sounds so believable they don't fact check anything? Because I just realised I never fact check this stuff I just totally love and believe it hahaha

Anthony Hortin

Perfection! *chefs kiss*. Authorised by the Department of Fucking over the Environment.

yep, in fact it could well be the "Gold Standard" Coal Club of Australia

Benito Cao

Thanks for another excellent HGA. This might just be me, but I found the music (I think it's the volume) too distracting in this video. I had to concentrate to keep the attention on the script. I don't recall this ever happening before. I think it is the volume, but it might be also the track (the fact that it has a 'voice' element seems to be mixing with the voice narration and distracting from the script). Again, this might just be me.

thejuicemedia

Thanks for this feedback Benito - I'll take a look at the levels!

thejuicemedia

Thanks Caroline, I realise some EV incentives in Norway are no longer applicable (eg using bus lanes), but I think the point that counts is that they did have those incenvtives to encourage EV sales at the start to help kick it off

thejuicemedia

It might be! We're always being criticised for not commenting on the Vic State Govt so either way we cop it from someone ;)

thejuicemedia

Good point Laurence, I would've loved to mention China - there was so much I couldn't fit in :-/

John L Smith

Once again direct hit on shitfuckery of our governments. And I definitely support the hit on the Victorian Labor government for such a stupid idea to tax EVs. No government is perfect, and in this case the Vics are way off. Here in the ACT the Labor/Greens government is actively encouraging the take up of EVs. Vic be like the ACT.

Jessie A

OMG the humiliation of having such a shitfucked Government just keeps on keeping on! FFS did you enjoy Scomo's Zoom performance in front of 40 World Leaders ?! Cringe worthy bullshit from Scotty yet again. Has he not fully registered that we are all fucked if the Worlds Governments don't agree to reduce carbon emissions and start using green energy right now ?!!!!!! I was hoping my eye rolling days might have been less now Donald Trump has fucked off (thank God!) but nooooooooo Scomo has stepped up and is now making my eyeballs hurt again hahahaha

Greg Bugno

I love it, it' brilliant. Excellent topic, excellent work.

Greg Bugno

Authorized by the Department of FFS.

Sonia D

“... which might explain why you keep re-electing us...” ! Love it! Another very clever script. Thank you. Can’t wait to share it.

Nemo Halperin

Wow, literally breathtaking! Shall we rename Oz as Mordor? Since that where the evil shitbags seem to concentrate... Once again, stunning work. Even here in the UK our government shitbags have EV incentives!

Pete Tasker

Brought to you by your caring government who wants to maintain Australia's inventory of fossil fuel autos to assure increasingly damaging wind-driven forest fires to keep you cozy.

Mark D Larsen

I'm excited to see this FFS! I've been an EV advocate for years, and am appalled how the fossil fools are pulling out all the stops to thwart them. My own state levies a "penalty" tax on my EV every year, which is —as you say— nothing more than a mammon-grubbing ploy. Years ago I proposed to our lawmuckers a much better, fairer, more equitable solution to pay for our roads as the transition to EVs rolls out: http://bit.ly/payroads It fell on deaf ears, of course. BTW, I'd be delighted to learn if you, Lucy, Ellen, and Zoë now drive EVs! Please tell me it's true!

Edward Pickering-Symes

Too right! Plus yesterday all the world's governments promised to cut emissions earlier and yet still pollute including ours in the UK widening roads, sanctioning coal and destroying forests for projects that won't be carbon neutral for 120 years (way after it becomes unable). They're all at it, sadly, not just your government.

Edward Pickering-Symes

Great work! Clear script contrasting what could happen with what sadly is. Keep up the good work everyone!

Lisa

Great work as usual. As if I wasn’t angry enough! Could you somehow et up an automatic petition/letter to MP’s after the HGA?

Michael Taylor

Well done everyone and look forward to the release. Very timely too with Scott Morrison's latest gaffe at a Climate Summit. He wasn't punched in the fucking face but someone did leave his mike turned off for the first 37 seconds. No audio problems for the other leaders. Even Sky News had trouble covering for him this time!

thejuicemedia

Yes, I'm trying to focus more on the positive things we're missing out on rather than just the shitty things - thanks Edward!

thejuicemedia

Thanks Mark! Alas, we are far from being able to afford our first EV! But hopefully in a few years once the second hand market kicks in we'll be able to get a Leaf or similar!

thejuicemedia

Good point Paul (Sorry for the typo earlier!) I would have loved to talk about China as a point of comparison - there's so many things I would have liked to include but couldn't due to the length.... (That's what the podcast is good for!)

Leigh Hammerton

Fictional Electors who would like some governmental progress to occur.

Redreamer - Wendy Bandurski

oh this is choice. There has to be a way to use FFS the Department of... Fossil Fuel Subsidies (or something) Bravo can't wait to see the outdoor scenes too!

NEil LaWson

Great content as always. One thing I've noticed on this, and some of your other videos, is that the audio seems out of time with the lip movements?

thejuicemedia

Thanks Neil! Yeah sometimes the sync is a little out in some place. But if it looks like it's entirely out of sync throughout the video, this is actually due to the audio and video being mismached on some devices - it happens especially when watching it on mobile via a browser. As opposed to desktop or mobile via a dedicated app (eg YouTube or facebook). Can you please try watching the video on your desktop or via the app and seeing if you still have the issue?
