Dear PatronsHere is the podcast companion to our latest Honest Government Ad about Net Zero by 2050 - and I am honoured (beyond words) to have as my guest Greta Thunberg. It's not often that Greta gives longform interviews like this, so I'm truly grateful to her for taking time out from kicking world-leaders' arses and her school homework to chat with me on the Juice Media Podcast. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. There's a lot in this podcast for everyone - whether you're interested in climate activism, science communication, or if you / your child are experiencing anxiety about the climate crisis; if you'd like to better understand the concepts of climate justice, equity, and the role of Indigenous leadership in the climate movement; or if you're curious to to know more about Greta herself - there's something here for you. I also made sure to ask Greta what she thought about the Honest Government Ad to which this podcast acts as a companion. And it would be an understatement to say that her generous response made me truly proud of what we've achieved with this series. It is food for the soul which will inspire and energise me and the team into 2022 and beyond. And I truly hope that you can take equal pride in this moment. I really enjoyed this podcast Giordano. We only get to see/hear soundbites from the MSM, so it was it great to hear a proper conversation with her. She comes across as a genuinely decent and caring human being with a maturity well beyond her years. Fabulous!

One thing that infuriates me is our LNP politicians saying the world wants our coal and we must sell it. They are market morons. We must leave it in the ground and grow up and move to renewables. The "market" economy is not only unfair but it is destroying our planet.

Robert Keyzer

thank you for all your fine work, and for the chance to get to know Greta a little bit

Jarrod Mast

My man! THE g team! To be fair, Greta is very knowledgeable and well spoken on these topics, but Giordano, mate, you need massive credit for interviewing with a level of respect and profession lacking in most news outlets. Thanks so much, great work! Oh how I wish I had paid attention to economics, politics and science when I was young the way Greta has! 👏👏

I am so endeared to Greta, and would adopt her as my own granddaughter in a heartbeat. She is so honest, brilliant, articulate, knowledgeable, dedicated, courageous —attributes that our so-called "leaders" have willingly SOLD for mammon and power. Indeed, I would dare to say that many —if not most— of them are in fact evil. They very well know the honest numbers, and continue to burn the planet anyway. How else can we describe such selfish, greedy, uncaring attitudes and behavior? They see the vehicle hurtling toward a child standing in the roadway, yet do nothing to save the child —even knowing it's their own grandchild! I want to add that it was so fun to see Ellen's cameo at the end: she's a real treasure for the Juice Media. Keep up your hard work in exposing the shitfuckery in this world. We sorely need the honesty of your ads and climate activists like Greta.

Amy Gauna

So first off, I love the video, I was only recently introduced to your videos through your recent Honest Government Ad. I've long struggled to really impress on others the urgency of the climate crisis myself, many people still deny that it even exists, and it's a challenge sometimes to break through to these people, but I feel like your video has the perfect mix of humor, seriousness, and clarity to be able to get through to some of them. So thank you for that! In response to the part where you mention that some people say to keep the messaging positive. There is theory in psychology around how people react to problems and difficulties that I very much believe in. It describes how there are 3 different categories people fall into in regards to this. 1) Positive Outlook: People in this group seek to avoid the pain of their problems by having a positive outlook on the situation and seeing the bright side of things, but it can sometimes lead to denial of the problem. 2) Reactive/Emotional Realness: These types have strong emotional reactions when faced with challenges, and typically they seek to see that emotion reflected back at them to gauage kinda who is "on their side", so it's a bit of a test as well as a way of venting strong emotional currents, but this can sometimes turn people away because of the impact it can have on others. 3) Competency: Some people prefer to repress or detach from emotions by focusing on being competent, such as knowing all of the details about a problem, following a system, being efficient, and staying cerebral, but too much repression of feeling can have negative consequences down the line and can also lead to them losing connection with others. All of the approaches have strengths and drawbacks to them, being mindful of which strategy you use and which others use can really help to boost understanding and allow greater levels of communication. The summarization above is from a personality type theory called "The Enneagram of Personality Types" for anyone who is curious.

thejuicemedia

Hi Amy thank you for sharing that with us - really interesting and yes, it makes sense that different people will respond to different messaging. I guess what I meant is that there used to be a dogma in climate activism that only positive messaging works, and negative messaging didn't. And I think we now know (thanks in great part to Greta) that this is not true. We need both :)

thejuicemedia

Thanks Pete - so glad it provided that opportunity to get to know Greta a bit better outside of the MSM shitshow

Sandra Kirby

Oh my, what an altogether beautiful, authentic, funny, talented young woman. Tears are streaming down my face that the adult world has deserted its beautiful children just like her to the wretched extent that we have. What an achievement for a humble eighteen year old, tiny in build but gigantic (in the essential sense of the word), in stature. And thank you for following through with action on the bullshit you identify Giordano. Neither of you have sat back and waited for others. Integrity is the word. I sincerely hope the video is going viral and we are all feeling our rightful sense of shame. After I process mine, I shall share with my fellow offenders far and wide. Enough blah blah blah, now to ACTION. Momentous thanks to you both. Juice Media, you have well earned this scoop :-)❤️

thejuicemedia

What a beautiful message Sandra - thank you. I loved that you ended with ACTION. Greta would approve :) Love, G

Awesome from the Juice crew again, and Greta of course. Really enjoy the follow up podcasts and deeper dives but his was a great one to scoop Greta, and see she's a Juice crew fan too. Seems Greta will have many more years of her straight talking to the fossils for them to endure.

Amy Gauna

Oh, I completely agree! I was just listing out a theory that seemed to support what you were saying - I'm sorry if I didn't communicate that well. Thank you again for doing what you do!

Diana

I had to move up one tier to say thank you for your dedication to the issue of climate change. Couldn’t resist…this podcast was an absolute joy! Also, I’m wondering if you would add a tee shirt to your inventory. This one would feature the graph showing the two paths to net zero by 2050.

thejuicemedia

Oh yes ok I get what you meant now :) Thanks Amy

thejuicemedia

Aw thank you so much Diana truly appreciated! X Nice idea about the tshirt there - I'll have a think and see what we can do :)

John Simpson

Firstly, congratulations on winning was it an hour or longer of Greta's time? Secondly, I loved the podcast, especially hearing Greta speak so intelligently and knowledgeable from the cuff so to speak. She's a joy to listen too but it's so sad that her generation has to beg the world leaders for a livable future. Greta has managed to control her frustration and anger in front of the world's cameras, but I'd like to guess there are millions of children and adults who would spit in the eyes of the politicians who are ignoring this crisis. We cannot survive without people like Greta and media groups such as Juice Media, so go strong guys, you're the best, your design work and voice-over are brilliant.

thejuicemedia

Thanks for the kind words, John - and so glad you enjoyed the podcast :)

Charles Lee

About this girl, many people think it’s the liberal media who obsessed with political correctness created a big nothing-burger out of her and consider she actually contributes nothing to solve the environmental issues. Other people think her thoughts about stopping using fossil fuels in a decade and let everybody becomes vegan is just unpractical and ridiculous. Though i think some of her opinion about the government is interesting. But like Putin said, do you think its possible for people in developing countries to pursue a better life while reaching her requires?
