Dear PatronsI'm excited! This is not just the podcast companion to our latest Honest Government Ad. It is also the first of what will hopefully become the new regular format for the Juice Media Podcast in Season 3.As most of you know, I started making the Juice Media Podcast at the start of Season 2 (after the 2019 election) as a way of exploring the subject of each Honest Government Ad in more depth - usually with the help of expert guests.During those 3 years I had the honour of interviewing amazing people - climate scientists, doctors, economists, political leaders, luminary thinkers like Naomi Klein and Noam Chomsky, and badass activists like (my all time favourite guest) Greta Thunberg. I learned a lot!But now that we're starting Season 3 and feel a bit more confident about this medium, I'd like to try something slightly new.Donโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll still host interviews with expert guests from time to time. But rather than making them the norm, I want to try and make the podcast a bit shorter and compact. It'll be a chance for me to more fully share my thoughts around the latest Honest Government Ad and to discuss details that didnโ€™t make it into the video; and to respond to some of the comments. The reason for this is partly because I'm keen to try something new in Season 3, something that gives me more space to share my own thoughts and observations about the latest HGA.And partly because long form interviews, as awesome as they are, also take a lot of time to produce. Which means that - even with Ellen's assistance, which has been awesome - I sometimes don't get much more than a couple days' break between publishing one HGA, and starting on the next one.And in Season 3, the two things Iโ€™d like to focus more of my time on are 1) writing more Honest Government Ads, and 2) spending more time with Luca and Juno, who are just growing up so fast.So we thought weโ€™d give this new short episode format a go: our hope is that it will still act as a helpful companion to the Honest Government Ads, whilst also creating a better work-life-family balance, which in turn will ensure the longevity of this series.I hope you enjoy the new format! I'm a little nervous, sure. But I'm also excited about the potential of this new format and all the things we can do with it - including guest hosts, and an opportunity for us to cover more topics. So my hope is that we'll build on this foundation going forward. Which is why I would HUGELY value your feedback on the new format and how we can build on it.Also, I've been wondering whether we should come up with a new name for "The Juice Media Podcast"...Sure, we publish the audio to our podcast host so people can listen to it on their podcast app. But that's a small proportion of the audience. Most people watch the video version on our Youtube channel. So I feel like "podcast" might not be an accurate descriptor of what this is... It might even be a slight put-off for some people, if they think it's a podcast rather than a video. What are your thoughts? Should we keep or change the name? And if so, what should we change it to? (Yes this is a call for suggestions!)I hope you enjoy this episode, and look forward to your thoughts!GiordanoPS: have you rated the Juice Media Podcast? If not, please give us a rating here :)

So happy to have y'all back - although I worry whether you've had enough rest. But I always worry about that. I like the shorter format - makes it easier to share with the family over dinner- along with the occasional longer version for more in-depth views I hope. As for the name, 'The Juice Media Podcast' is a bit long and formal, if accurate. 'Media Juice', might be a contracted and more playful alternative, with the implication of pulverizing the media down to its essence, perhaps. Thanks again for your important work!

Edward Lander

Hi Giordano, kudos on the impressive list of podcast guests so far. I'm still impressed that you managed such an in-depth debate with Malcolm Turnbull :-) It sounds like you guys have been working super hard over the past few years - I'm honestly a bigger fan of HGAs themselves, so no pressure from me to keep the existing format for the podcasts :) And, for the new name, how about Juice Media Extra?

Peter M

Always genuine, considered and informative, it's great to be a patron of the juice media. Think your shorter follow ups might get more views but I enjoy the longer format interviews as well myself, where sometimes views, experiences or events can really have some depth of coverage. I'm sure you'll be back with auspol coverage as required but good to see some energy for global stuff. The climate shit-fuckery and events will continue here and abroad for a while I'm sure. All the best to the juice crew

Just love all 4 ladies, so cool.

Please give some time to expose Bolsonaro in Brazil.

The Shorter format looks great! I admit, I usually skip the podcast companion videos because the length is a bit intimidating. This makes them more accessible! I like Edward's suggestion of extra, I also like The Juice Companion, though maybe it doesn't have enough context by itself to explain what it is. Maybe even The Juice Explainer or The Juice deep dive.

G'day ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป I don't think you need to change a thing mate, plenty of podcast have a YouTube video to accompany it. Experiment, have fun with it and adjust according. I look forward to it ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Wonderful! Please remember to include your children and family segments to bring it home for viewers. In America you could be forgiven if you thought the only family people were Christians and Jews and Jews only because the Christ was Jewish on his mothers side. I believe in creator God as a mothers love for her children and the responsible freedom implied, not any organized paternal centered religion. The more solid information you find and bring the more power you will have, but as I learned as a Mennonite,(not anymore), in church, โ€œThe mind will only retain what the bottom can withstandโ€. In other words keep it brief but packed and we will repeat it with punch. Thank you all cousins!

Already listened in YouTube. It was a great followup, and I enjoyed getting to know Pixelsmixel better. Keep 'em comin'! If it weren't for the Juice Media and Randy Rainbow, I would've lost my sanity years ago.

Great work! I very much enjoyed the 1st episode of Season 3. It was very professionally produced. Your guest presenter Pixelsmixel was fantastic - maintaining the high standard that your regular presenters achieve. And, I found the entire episode so very informative - and the subject matter so alarming! This new format looks like a winner. Best wishes for continuing success with these Honest Government Ads. Giordano, you and your talented team are doing us all a great service. Much appreciated!

Hamish Fawns

Really great video as usual and Pixelsmixel is amazingly talented. Did she do the voice over as well? If so she does a great American accent and I think you should use her for more future American content. How about calling the show Behind the Scenes, Behind the Juice, or Juicemedia In Depth? You could get ideas from the names of the making of segments that you always get in the last 10 minutes of David Attenborough documentaries. I really enjoyed the long form interviews in podcasts last season and I learned heaps from them but I totally appreciate that they must take a very long time to produce. I was amazed that you managed to produce an HGA and a podcast every month. Maybe you could occasionally skip doing an HGA for a month and do one of these interviews instead?

Anitra Nelson

Great. Love the new format. "The Juice Media Podcast" โ€”> "Freshly juiced poddy cast"

Eric Descoteaux

I love the new shorter format. I gave me the incentive to watch the podcast.

Sandra Kirby

How about Fresh Juice with Giordano? Giordano, big informed names definitely boost views. For me, the discussion/ explanation format works. I like the slower, more reflective pace, especially on many of the difficult to comprehend subjects you so bravely raise. Your links are most helpful too. I love the slick speed of the videos. Itโ€™s a feature of their appeal. However for older viewers like me, it can be difficult to keep up. Quality over quantity every time dear team. โค๏ธ

The length and style is a good balance. Long format podcasts were okay in the early days of podcasts but there's too much now and most people don't have the time and will tune out. Still allows for a deeper dive than the HGAs. Great work team! Keep fighting the fuckery!!

thejuicemedia

Yes Pix did her own voice :) We thought that would make it easier for her, as lip-syncing to another person's voice adds another level of difficulty and I didn't think it would be fair to her as it's already quite challenging doing this for the first time! I'm so glad you enjoyed her guest-hosting :)

thejuicemedia

Thanks for the feedback Sandra, this is really good to keep in mind. My hope is that we can always keep doing interviews from time to time - especially if we have a great guest lined up :)

thejuicemedia

Thanks for the feedback Sarah, that's great to know this was more accessible :)

thejuicemedia

Yeah, parents of youg children can never get enough rest lol, but really all we need is a good week between HGAs, and a solid month off at the end of the year (or after super intense periods) and that usually does it :) Thank you for the suggestions!

thejuicemedia

Haha yeah the Mal interview was classic. I'm still surprised he accepted the invitation! Thanks for the suggestion
