Wow. Hearing how she thinks in a monologue doesn't untwist her for us. She wants to be the Dark Goddess expecting lovers to sacrifice themselves at her altar, so that she can unloose her rage upon them. That's not a viable business plan for a Dark Goddess cult. Her parents never showed her, and her quest for people to look up to her is the only thing she knows as positive attention. She's a mess, but I don't think she's intentionally cruel for the pleasure of it - it shows love in her mind.

She's certainly resistant to intervention! Sal was difficult and unhappy, but Danny's patient approach just softened right up and released a lot of natural wonderfulness. Jennifer isn't about to let anybody do that to/for her. She both demands total devotion and finds it romantically boring.
