That has not been shown to be a factor at all for how Joe makes decisions about how he moves about his relationship with Joyce. At the time if this post approximately 18% of the comments on this post are you talking about Dorothy in reaction to a strip that isn't about her even tangentially, you gotta chill on it. It is too much.

Yeah, idk exaaaactly what Joe's thinking right now... there has definitely been a fair amount of anxiety, but also being turned on, but also anxiety. The last time this came up, I thought it probably wasn't helping that Joyce was still talking about sex as something Joe was going to do *to* her, rather than something they were going to experience together. (But also as she has said out loud with her mouth, that's how she felt comfortable articulating it at the time; and this is an issue a lot of former fundies have as they try to kick the programming.) (I'm still not sure if she's overcome that barrier, or if she needs to overcome it before she and Joe can have their first slipshine, or....) Anyway, Joe and Danny have also had a conversation now about how his hesitation to sleep with Liz might have been a *him* thing, relating it back to Danny's reluctance to sleep with then-Billie, which he first tried to put in terms of HER not being ready but then admitted was actually HIM not being ready, and I kind of think we are overdue here to have Joe realize he isn't ready to take that step and actually accept that about himself. That it might not be just Joyce who's anxious, and that Joyce might not be the one who winds up wanting to pump the breaks here. (None of which says anything negative about this relationship! It's just an important conversation, and one I'd enjoy reading, and one which would really bring Joe's development full circle.........) (But also like it's literally fine if he's just happy and she's just happy and they just have a nice night together too.)
