Ernie O'Dell

Ha! I see you Temu Danny! 🤣

DonnieRamesJio

With the lip bite? Nah, that's an easy 4

Sydney Ashcraft

Wow! Robin did an observation. And a concern!

Morgan Byrd

Oh shit oh fuck oh shit oh fuck

Megh

Tbh I think Dotty's a four and I'm ready to die on this hill

Rob McBobson

Not the main point, but what's a "strung"? English is NOT my native language.

Megh

So Joyce is definitely thinking something to the effect of "Goddammit first Becky and now Dorothy" right?

Sajuuk-Khar

Can we please not, with this discourse I understand that we love Joyce/Dorothy and I understand there is this desire for it to be Pure and Utterly Sapphic but that’s not what the pairing is, Dorothy’s heterosexual relationships are hardly “incidental”, she did not *confess her love* to Walky because “cOmPhEt” Signed, a weary bisexual

Crunchos cereal

That lip bite is the cherry on the cake.

Sajuuk-Khar

This isn’t even her sexiest sweatervest!

Railway Series Book Club

joyce is totally thinking about what jennifer said earlier re: the amount of kissing best friends can do while still being normal best friends

Bronxden

Oh...are we about to enter into cringe dotty era lol

Sajuuk-Khar

That is a Robinism, unless I’m super mistaken

Harold

@Rob McBobson: It's my native language and I have no idea, either.

Sajuuk-Khar

“Dorothy, do you own a car? Because if I don’t crash your car Billie said this is a non-starter.”

Harold

@Morgan Byrd: And keep in mind we haven't seen Becky's reaction to all this yet. She's in this class too.

S

Eee! I just did the Lenny biting his palm move

Rob McBobson

Sajuuk-Khar: Sounds fairly likely, but the "vertically-ascendant" part indicates that it's got some specific meaning that I don't get.

Andrea Andrew

According to DW, it’s possible Danny and Walky may not be cis.

Kelly (they-them)

We don't know that for sure. She could also be thinking about Dorothy's breasts

Tim

I think she's implying Dorothy is "high-strung."

Sajuuk-Khar

Everyone notices the horny lip bite in Panel 5, for good reason, but that fuckin axolotl-ass “oh! my moon and stars!” crush face in Panel 3 is perfection

Harold

@QueenOfSodor: It's more likely that Joyce's initial thought is "What the fuck is going on here?" Although the raised eyebrow is fascinating.

Baqly

Currently Obsessed with this comic.

Sajuuk-Khar

This sounds like exactly the Robin way to communicate that idea, thinking about it

Dan Rabin

It's a Dorothy strip as per all the borderless panels save the initial scene-setter (which contains the only dialogue). I think the emotional interpretation of this strip won't be very controversial: "Saved you a seat! (of course!)"; "Of course, but the attraction part of my crush makes my smile small, so I'll sit next to her, but I'll fold my arms and shrink away. Oh, try a little warm smile to let the old interaction habits know it's OK." ; "Yay, Dorothy smiled, and I reJoyce!"; "Oh, I love her so! Gah! Bite that thought." But the last panel seems ambiguous to me—Joyce has a bit of suspicion at Dorothy's expression, and she has seen the Pictures In Question. The big blue eyes shrink a bit and look a bit away from Dorothy, the triangle smile loses a side, and Joyce's head tilts back upright. All this happens under the watchful eyes of Grumpy Sarah and Intuitive Robin. Dorothy shows cleavage, while Joyce is in her less-than-sexiest sweater vest.

Sajuuk-Khar

the laundry room fills with 70’s porn music

Lisa

"about to"?

Rob McBobson

Tim: Okay, you got yourself a Willis-like! I'm gonna go ahead and take that as a sign that your comment is accurate, or at the very least a valid interpretation.

HenryVolt

Ease up on the lip biting it will give you away.

Elizabeth

Just a Joyce looking for a Dorothy who would bite her lip like that at me

Andrea Andrew

I think Joyce is happy to see Dorothy smiling in the last panel. It’s probably just that and nothing else.

C

Joyce: Something's off about Dorothy today...she's late, she's giving strange looks...the nibbling on my earlobe's a bit usual, I'll admit.

Crunchos cereal

Then the maybe suspicious face in the fourth panel. She's not sure of things there.

Taffy

Now that she's admitted to herself she's in lesbian with Joyce, things should go a lot smoother from here on out.

HeroGirlsVT

gods damnit, beat me by 6 minutes

Jey Siksa

I would usually day get her a golf hat and a ukelele, but danny has been winning non stop

Grace Serenity

"Why do all my friends keep turning gay and developing a crush on me!?"

Grace Serenity

Oh shit! Did the Fire Nation attack?

Terra Bruder

Dot: "So we're figuring this out about ourselves at the same time, right?" Joyce: "..." Dot: "Right? •~•"

Rubia

That's the ideal. Or one of them, at least. I'm paranoid and worrying it means something else.

Jasmijn Wellner

@Sajuuk-Khar I understand your concern, but I don't think that was what was happening here. Even a Kinsey 4 is "predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual". The people you responded to aren't denying Dorothy's bisexuality @Andrea hey maybe don't respond to someone concerned about bisexual erasure with comments like that

Harold

@Grace Kieser: That's an interesting way to refer to Becky, but that probably won't be until the next strip

Leon

Dorothy immediately couldn't help give herself away lol. A bit of ambiguity here, but regardless I think similar interactions between the two will be the norm for awhile. An amorous expression being reacted to with a quizzical one. I think Joyce will internally freak about it but will reciprocate without either of the two ever saying anything out loud. This following the last strip with Joe, it's going to affect her relationship with him for sure.

Harold

Something that Leslie and Robin have in common: they've both recognized that Dorothy being late for class represents a catastrophic rip in the space/time continuum. (This is also further proof that despite Robin's... *idiosyncrasies* as a teacher - not to mention as a person - she's perceptive, cares about her students, and knows immediately when something's wrong.)

Andrea Andrew

Quite the contrary. It was there before, but they now know.

Andrea Andrew

It probably means something else. Joe, I hope you know what you’ve unleashed.

David M Willis

yeah that's just robin's robin way of saying "you're high-strung"

Harold

@Andrea Andrew: He's unleashed THE FUCKING FURY

E

“The triangle smile loses a side” I like your way with words

Justin Seifert

Indeed, I think Joyce knows something is up.

Justin Seifert

Since Dorothy was reeling from the accidental cheating on her BF, She is not doing much to rein that behavior in.

Jasmijn Wellner

Her lips taste just the same as always though

Harold

@David M Willis: This makes me think of Captain Holt's reaction (on BROOKLYN NINE-NINE) when told that "BRB" is an acronym for "be right back": "That makes no sense. The acronym has the same number of syllables as the words it's replacing."

Andrea Andrew

I think she’s going to break up with Walky, if she hasn’t already.

Justin Seifert

But Joyce is with Joe.. Pursuing Joyce is disingenuous, at best.

Grace Serenity

I mean she essentially adopted Becky. Robin is eccentric and has a lot of baggage, but deep down she is actually decent.

Andrea Andrew

True, but Joyce seems open to dating more than one person.

Andrea Andrew

Thank goodness Robin didn’t end up like Mike Johnson.

Alexandra Falk

I think everyone is really eager to throw 'cheating' around, here. Sure, it's messy and bound to end dramstically, but Dorothy is not actually cheating on Walky here (yet)... is my take.

Justin Seifert

Actually, I don't think so. While she is It's obviously understanding of those dynamics; however, when it comes to herself.. I believe she will stick to monogamy. Additionally, even after she I started accepting gay and bisexuality as non-sinful, I don't think that's a direction she would actually go. Her affection towards Dorothy is out of comfort, not out of sexual attraction.. She even argues that they have the "same parts" as a way to dissuade any impropriety when it comes to the boob pic exchange rather than alluding to any form of lust. Face it, she is very much wanting the D and nothing else right now. There may be some subconscious stuff regarding Dorothy, but that's going to take a lot to surface or be explored considering her current mindset.

Andrea Andrew

I’m gonna explain this in the simplest way possible. Joyce likes Dorothy romantically and sexually and she’s in the closet. She’s bisexual.

Calder Johnson

I'm gonna say I think you're both right and that Joyce is clearly bisexual, but it really isn't determined where she is on the monogamy/non-monogamous scale. Heck, she's still figuring out her first real relationship, let alone adding in additional difficulty levels. I suspect, after an interminable number of awkward interactions with Dorothy, what's happening will finally break through her skull. And after an initial freak-out, she'll handle it in an authenthic, kind way - whatever that is, because that's who she is. What I would personally find beyond hilarious and beyond satisfying however, is after Dororthy goes through a cataclysmic doom-spiral, she will actually end up in the Weirdest Quadruple Ever with Walky/Amber/Amazi-girl.
