Proto_Eevee

in my head Joyce switch to like, a duke nukem impression right there. of course she wouldn't know she's doing a duke nukem voice because she probably wasn't allowed to play those games

Packy Anderson

Oh, Joyce. If you only knew what you were doing.

Verteiron

Daaaamn, I'm lookin' goooood

Uniquitous

Who's to say she doesn't?

Harold

@Packy Anderson: Counterpoint - Are we abso-tively, 100% sure that she *doesn't*?

Crunchos cereal

I kind of start to get the impression she might know a bit.

Omnithea

Dial clicks. Dial clicks. Dial clicks.

Harold

Yay, Dorothy didn't bolt! I'm very glad to have been wrong.

Dan Rabin

Joyce looks like she's on the cover of a 1955 pulp paperback entitled THE NAKED SMILE, while Dorothy tries to do a see-no-evil with just one hand.

Crunchos cereal

Or not, and she’ll be horrified when the eventual revelation comes. Especially considering the Becky thing.

Packy Anderson

I don't think she does. Once Joyce realizes she's romantically interested in Dorothy, she's going to be wracked with guilt because she'll feel like she SHOULD have felt that way about Becky. She's not going to be all perky and chipper about it immediately.

Harold

@Jens H.: The next bonus strip (after Kaitlin) should be Dorothy's *immediate* reaction to seeing that face, before covering her eyes. I'm thinking Tex Avery.

Baqly

I genuinely feels like she is doing on purpose

Sajuuk-Khar

That and like I just don’t think Joyce would drag it out this long and this teasingly if she knew Dorothy was hot to trot with her. Joyce is a lot of things, but mean-spirited isn’t one of them.

C

"Yeah, laptop's up in my bed...we'll have to snuggle extra close during, of course." '...Is she...flirting? ...Does she KNOW?'

Sajuuk-Khar

Joyce, once again, is not intentionally tormenting Dotty. Willis and/or Nyarlathotep, on the other hand, are chuckling up a storm about this.

Packy Anderson

Now I want to read that pulp paperback!

Leon

Now I'm wondering since when has Joyce started walking to her room in only a towel after showering? Don't recall that after seeing how self-conscious she was about communal showers. That's a big step.

Megh

I could be misremembering, but wasn't her only issue with the showers that they're absolutely filthy?

Morgan Byrd

Oh shit Joyce has sex hips now

Dan Rabin

Megh: Different issue. She wore the shower platform shoes made from milk jugs (by Carla) into the shower just now to avoid the filthy floor, but I think Leon is asking whether she has previously returned to her room in just a wrapped towel rather than the clothes she brought to the shower. (I don't know offhand).

Buck Caldwell

Little did you know, Joyce has *always* had Sex Hips.

Dan Rabin

Harold: IIRC there's a Bob Clampett Daffy Duck where his eye becomes his entire face for just one frame.

Megh

Ah! Yup you're right

Dan Rabin

Leon: granted, but that doesn't seem to have become the running gag that the floor filth became.

PaperRabbits

The entirety of Joyce's characterization. She's not mean spirited, and this is a bit far to take lighthearted teasing. Also she's in a committed monogamous relationship with Joe.

Andrea Andrew

Honestly, much like Joyce and Dorothy, it could go either way.

Waifu Purplebutt

Good golly Ms. Molly that first panel would make a great pinup for the other patreon

Morgan Byrd

Actually I would say no, they’re “cute dancing hips” but they’re not sex hips. Sex hips are hips with an intent to fuck. It’s a posture

Leon

I'm curious if this is a more recent development that's related to Joyce's more open attitude after her major sexual discovery with Dorothy that's led up to this point or she just didn't think about it in this scenario for unknown reasons. The latter makes this moment more interesting psychologically. I feel like this is all leading up to an anti-climax with Joe (he'll get cold feet and postpone the coitus) but Joyce's present behavior is meant to be significant.

Dan Rabin

Leon: I suspect Joyce *is* thinking about this moment, but in vastly different terms from Dorothy, as evidenced by Joyce's joyful, eager attitude and Dorothy's dread. Perhaps Joyce sees this time with Dorothy as a continuation of Dorothy's help in the laundry room—entirely compatible both with their friendship and with the upcoming date with Joe. For Dorothy, the sexual charge of this moment is a severe challenge to their friendship, her desires being in conflict with what she sees as best for Joyce. That's my best guess, anyhow. I don't know what is actually going to happen, or who communicates what, when, and responds how.

Dan Rabin

I don't think Nyarlathotep is involved: he's just a Crawling Chaos, whereas this is the work of a tireless marathon-running chaos.

Simon Magid

ïa! ïa! Shub-Niggurath! Black Goat of the Woods with a thousand clitblocks!

Leon

Yeah, what Dorothy is feeling is obvious. What's funny about this entire story development is the thrust of Dorothy/Joyce as a potentiality came from Joyce making inappropriate and "pause" worthy comments without being aware of it. Now that Dorothy is explicitly into Joyce, though, we're met with a scenario where we can't determine if she's doing what she usually does or if she's unconsciously ramping it up solely based off three strips in this story line. She recently has grown a bit of awareness and acknowledged she was possibly having homoerotic dreams about Dorothy by denying it (https://www.dumbingofage.com/2023/comic/book-14/02-its-the-love-i-havent-got/meepbeep/). Joyce for sure sees this as a continuation of Dorothy's help in the laundry room, but that is also ambiguous because of certain implications and the nature of their interactions (holding hands while getting off together and Joyce drunkenly saying she wants to see Dorothy fuck). This is meant to be looked as "round three." Joyce explicitly links what Carla implicitly refers to as round one (laundry) and round two (going out drinking) with the idea that's how she and Dorothy learned "how to LET each other say yes" (https://www.dumbingofage.com/2024/comic/book-15/01-love-dares-you-to-change/curating-2/). So I'm assuming you're meant to think about how that statement relates to the potentiality of this situation, which could go a number of ways. The build up here is really good.

MrShoggoth

I’m having flashes back to the Evangelion manga, where Asuka pranks Shinji by dropping her towel to reveal she’s fully dressed beneath

MrShoggoth

Nyarlathotep is definitely the kind who would fuck around with someone for no other reason than he’s bored, though.

Mariah

I feel like becky was more like a sister to her growing up together the way they did more than it being about becky being a woman.

Lisa

I'm getting Walkyverse Joyce vibes from the way Joyce is drawn in this strip. I'm not sure if it's the way her hair hangs? Or maybe there's something subtly different about sexually-confident Joyce that's coming through?

5099 5618 v2.0

That is the question. I assume the answer is "Yes."

5099 5618 v2.0

Y'know, Joyce, there comes a point at which you're just being mean with all this.

Sajuuk-Khar

[The Thousand-Faced Moon laughs with and behind Their Mask.]

Leon

Is it significant that Dorothy is holding the sweater vest Joyce was wearing when she was trying to seduce Jacob when Dorothy was tagging along and Raidah happened to show up? Maybe. Flip out if Joyce puts her hair up into a pony tail soon.

Taffy

You just had to draw her extra cute in that first panel, didn't you.

Shane Wegner

Who are you averting your gaze for, Dorothy? Joyce has already said she trusts you and you’re both women so very few people would assume anything unchaste. (Joyce’s words aside.)

darklion

Another poor choice incoming, I think

Dan Rabin

She is very likely doing so because of her own feelings, not because of any feeling she's imputing to Joyce.

Girlycore

She literally doesn't know. She's just being cocky and cute.

Astariel

Poor Dorothy, trying to hold it together in the face of super sexy Joyce telling her to get in her bed. (Seriously, I don't think Joyce has ever been sexier than those first two panels.)

Harold

@Taffy: Not to mention extra randy in the second panel.

Harold

In the words of the Pixies: "Got hips like Cinderella / Must be having a good shame"

Harold

"The Hanky-Panky That DARE Not Speak Its Name"

David M Willis

Her hair's a little wet, so it's hanging from her head in a more Walkyverse-ish way, yeah

Harold

"Also, my laptop's been overheating lately. You might need to fiddle around with my laptop a little to make sure it's work-- Dorothy? You OK?"
