Rach3l is already taken.

Ragtime

Yessssssss Lego-afficiando Rachel lore, it's all I ever wanted.

KiasyonSFM

I like Purple Haired Rachel!

veggiemail

tragically, even when Other Rachel gets her own strip, it's about her being "Other" and not "Rachel"

Downgraded my patreon for HRT

I feel for Racheal 4. From 2nd grade to high school, we had Chris C, Chris L, Kris with a K, Chris D (who became Chris B when his mom married Kris with a K's dad) and then we had a tomboy named Christina who wanted to go by Chris but we made it worse by going girl Chris and I wonder how *checks Facebook* hes doing

C

Two of my friends opted to solve their name issue by going with Mario and Luigi as their nicknames.

Irene Knapp

yeah when I transitioned it was made clear to me that people were grateful that I was **vacating valuable namespace** :D

Omnithea

bOther Rachel

Carl Cravens

When I worked with another Karl, we were Karl the Elder and Carl the Younger. The elder was not pleased.

Jack Deeth

I don't think he knows about second Rachel

Steve McSheffrey

I was never 'Other Steve' but more often 'THAT Steve'.

Jarrod Lombardo (he-him)

In college, we had "Light Mel" (blonde, bubbly), "Dark Mel" (black hair, goth), and "Asian Mel" (black hair, goth, but also Asian).

Logibear

I feel like we've finally come to know Rachel the Lesser in this strip.

ValdVin

Bespectacled Curvy Shortish Rachel is the name readers demand. That's me. I'm readers.

C.T. Phipps

Second Rachels, Rachelsies, and other many important rachels of the day.

Sky Starlight

With this development, Purple Haired Rachel might be my new favorite character.

Ty34er

I sat in a row of 6 Tylers in Choir in middle school (okay, I think it was 5 Tylers and 1 Tylor)

Packy Anderson

I have never been in a group where there was another Packy. Every time I remember this, I thank my late great grandfather for giving that name to me when I was EIGHT DAYS OLD.

thejeff

Grachel? Or does that sound like she's grey haired.

Amós Batista

That's the first time a sign is mentioned in DoA. (Virgo? hahaha)

thejeff

Rachel 2: Electric Boogaloo?

thejeff

I fear that one would quickly be shortened to "Lego Rachel", which might not quite be the right image.

Douglas Appelt

Purple hair Rachel or Glasses Rachel is the best she can hope for (unless she somehow becomes Homecoming Queen or something. Does college/uni *have* homecomings?)

Andrea Andrew

I guess Rachel will always a two.

5099 5618 v2.0

And so it was with Sara(h)s, too, once upon a time.

E

My first name is uncommon, but when I was a freshman, 3 of us had it across our fairly small dorm. We were all different races, so we used that to differentiate. I tried to call us the rainbow coalition of s. Needless to say, it didn’t catch on.

Joe Crow - Words & Pictures

Welp. Only practical solution: acquire a sword and SLAUGHTER YOUR WAY TO BECOME FINAL RACHEL.

E

Lesser Rachel sounds like a common name for a bird species

Star Ringer

"Here we see the Lesser Rachel, engaged with a Red-Crested Canadian Disaster Bisexual, flaunting her violet plumage and expressing deference to the larger, angrier female in hopes of recognition and potential aid during the coming winter."

Star Ringer

@thejeff I was thinking the exact same thing!

Star Ringer

"We've had one Rachel, yes. What abou-"💥🔫

GundamBradley

Honestly, Rachel 2 is probably an upgrade.

Zesstra

I love it when a campaign comes together. For that one person on Bluesky who said I would need to find a new obsession: 1) have you not noticed that I also do Asma Stats‽ I've got room for more than one obsession in my life. 2) I do have another character in mind who has very few regular strip appearances and no bonus strips dedicated to them, which was a big reason I wanted to boost Other/Purple-haired/Lego-aficionado Rachel, so I will be consistent with that mission.

AE Gonzalez

I take it never seeing her last name is going to be a running gag.

Harold

Rachlander II: The Rachening

Harold

Other, Other, Other, Other, Other, Other, baked beans, Other, Other, Other Rachel

Jamie (QueenofSodor)

it's no use, rachel. you're gonna have to transition, it's the only way to make your identity your own.

Kelly (they-them)

Rachel 4 would be so goddamn funny. Everyone else in the hall who hasn't met Rachels 2 and 3 would be like, "Where are all these other Rachels? Have we met them?" I've said Rachel too many times and now it feels like a strange name

David M Willis

In Third Grade, I was one of three Davids. I was David W and there was also a David R and a David S. Most Davids want to go by Dave, though, so typically when there was more than one David in a class, I'd happily take the longer form. Maybe Other Rachel would be okay going by "raych"

darklion

I remember we had so many Kevins at our small college (5 in a class of 200) we numbered them.

C Bonesmith

I've got... five Rachels in my phone. Zoo Rachel, Tegu Rachel, Archaeology Rachael, Uromastyx Rachel, and Work Rachel. Nobody gets to be Just Rachel. I'd like to upgrade Work Rachel but I need to get to know her better so she can have an interest attached to her name and not just be the one I know at work.

Axel

In the grad above me in school , there were three people with the same first name, and surnames starting with J, V, and W, so they were FirstName 1, 2, and 3 because that's how it looks when you hold the number up on your fingers (the 'J'/1' includes your thumb.

Tessea

Grape-Flavored Rachel! Wait.... That invites too many awkward questions. Purple Rachel gets my vote.

Tamás Kaposvári

We had five Tamáses. We forwent the use of our given name(s) altogether and were only called by our surnames.

Dean Reilly

Rachels 2 and 3 exist in a quantum state. You can know who they are or where, but not both.

Yue Ryong

Hm... clearly the option silly enough to stick is 'Rachel Ghul'.

Harold

"The Lesser Rachel emerges from the confrontation with femurs intact"

Harold

I may have mentioned this before re: the Rachels, but one of my favorite baseball stories concerns the fact that the legendarily hapless 1962 New York Mets had two pitchers named Bob Miller. Manager Casey Stengel quickly got tired of trying to tell them apart, so he decided to arbitrarily call one of them "Nelson." That was his name for the rest of that season.

Zesstra

I'm sure there was a social group I was in once with like eight Davids.

LexiByDay

Next bonus comic should be the council of Rachels

Errorname

Of course what would end up happening is that they'd end up being [new name] 2 somehow.

John Clary

In one of the churches I went to there were 3 Johns besides myself. I had just taken Opus the Poet as my professional name, so I was Opus at church.

Harold

@AE Gonzalez: She *does* have a last name, though. Per the tags on Willis' DoA Tumblr post promo-ing this bonus strip, she's Rachel Moore. (I presume this may be a pun on the fact that this Rachel is chronically viewed as "less" than Rachel Jackson.)

Jennifer Bak

We had an Eric and an Erik in our group for a while, so we called them C-chan and K-chan

Daibhid Ceannaideach

There were *so many* Davids in my school. There were *two* other David Kennedys (although thankfully I was only in the same year as one of them and we had different middle names)! If only I'd thought of the Gaelic spelling sooner!

Minzoku Bokumetsu

The family friends are ALL Chris Townsend: Christopher, Christopher, Christine, Christine... I think the son went by Topher at least

Bonnie Fiddis

Same, at the time I was in a small team at work with someone who shared my deadname.

Macareux Moine

Freshman? I always thought she was a sophomore. To be honest: I filed all the minor characters from the main wing as sophomores, including Sierra (totally forgot we got a glimpse on her parents on freshmen family weekend). I believe the only actually confirmed sophomores are Sarah, Ruth, Rachel and Carla. I can't recall any specifics on Grace, Mandy, Agatha or Meredith.

Maya

Personally I think "Shorter Rachel" is a good choice because it's immediately apparent and unlike some of the others, is less likely to change. Hair color and spectacle status are likely to change. "Freshman" and "first year" are definitely going to change.

Harold

I think you've got most of these correct (although I am also not sure about Agatha and Meredith). She doesn't live on this floor but Raidah is also a sophomore.
