"Uh, yeah. That was me that nearly drunk-murdered her..."

Andrea Andrew

Good to see Nash after so long. She seems like she hasn’t kept up on anything.

Dave Van Domelen

"Yyyyeah, need to update the rumor mill on that one."

C

Well that's just awkward.

Simon Magid

Awkward. Sometimes I feel like this comic could have the alternative title of 'Awkwarding of Age.'

jafortee

alice just loves sharing goss it doesn’t matter if it’s about her

Steve McSheffrey

I have no recollection of Nash. I thought this was Asma showing excitement for the first time on panel.

AE Gonzalez

“Indoor voice! Waddaya mean indoor voice!?”

Josh Whelan

Surprised this moment is in a bonus comic. Seems kinda major

C Bonesmith

Vet med in Indiana and she's *not* at Purdue? Bold move, Alice, let's see if it pays off for you. (I hope it does, she's sweet and if my lizard's vet office anything to go off of, we really need more vets in the midwest.)

meh

willis when this goes in the book can the alice sipping from her straw panel be just off to the right of this strip?

GundamBradley

Nash! Been a long time, always kinda loved her brand of zero-tact.

GundamBradley

Nash hasn't been around much in a while, but she's from the same wing as Lucy and now Billie/Jennifer. She was one of the people who was really admiring of Billie when she moved in, and one of the ones Lucy was frustrated with being unable to really get jazzed about being friends with her.

Douglas Appelt

I thought for sure we'd seen Nash before, but when I did a search for her name, I get no results. Hmm.

Jeff

My brain would scream nonstop at me if the comic had a title that didn’t follow the syllabic meter of “coming of age”

Tessea

Hi, Nash! Haven't seen you in a while! You... need to catch up on events...

Michael Steamweed

Hm, yes, very good idea to keep our voices down. Don't want that ex- to hear about this.

Harold

"...although, now that I think about it, Alice is over that and now wants to reconnect with that girl and get non-drunkenly THIGH-murdered!... Hey, why are both of your faces changing color like that?"

C.T. Phipps

Odd fact: Nash knows Jennifer did a drunk driving. Jennifer opened up to her to torpedo her hero worship.

Jens H. (Nethead Jay)

Hey, so from this comment I gather you're knowledgeable about colleges in Indiana. Question, if we imagine Alice as a real person and not a character in Mr. Willis's cartoon, can you think of reasons for her to choose Bloomington over Purdue? I know a little about both schools through connections (long and not relevant story) and this awakened my inner curiosity, hope you don't mind.

C Bonesmith

Whoops, hit enter too early the first time! Ahem. Sorry this is gonna be long, this is something I know a lot about because once upon a time I wanted to study animals and go to school in Indiana, and then I was in higher ed for a decade and spent a lot of time talking about vet schools with my own students. (I taught biological anthropology, and a lot of kids interested in that are interested in animal evolution and care.) Scholarships are a big thing. IU offers a lot. If you can keep your GPA up It's not hard to get a full ride, or close to it, and then you're only on the hook for room and board. It's also a lot closer to home than Purdue is- Evansville is like two hours away from Bloomington, where IU is, but Purdue's in West Lafayette, which is closer to four. But honestly, knowing that she wants to be in vet med, I don't know why Alice is here. I didn't want to come out and say "why is Alice majoring in something IU doesn't offer" because this is an alternative universe and I guess in this one they do offer pre-vet as a major and not just a vaguely defined academic track. But IU's pre-vet training is so limited that they actually officially advise you to get animal handling experience in 4H, which you cannot do as a college student. That would involve time travel. It's also genuinely hard to get internships in vet med if you're an IU student. Research, you can often find one, but the vet stuff is hard, because they'd rather have someone from a legitimate pre-vet program. However, depending on what kind of vet she wants to be, there might be an unusual backdoor way into vet school, and that's through one of IU's oddest majors: Animal behavior. Most of the students in that don't end up in vet med, they end up in research. (I was strongly considering going there and taking this as a major, with the goal of a career in herpetology or veterinary medicine. Ended up going to Notre Dame and doing something else entirely. Anyways, enough about me!) Even their Animal Behavior major info page doesn't mention being a veterinarian. Vet tech's as far as it gets in the med side of things. It's not a program designed for medical care as much as it is animal psychology, which is why they tend to go on to be zoo directors and researchers. Of course, she could have decided to go into vet med after admission. A lot of kids do that, they go in undeclared and pick something out when they're ready. She isn't the only cast member to be at the "wrong" school- if I remember correctly, Danny flat out says at the start of the comic he should have gone to Purdue for computer science. But if you're a kid in Indiana, and you want to be a vet, every guidance counselor in the state's gonna tell you to go to Purdue, because they have a direct admit program to their vet school- meaning if you maintain a certain GPA, you don't have to bother applying to other schools. You just get in. Given that the acceptance rate for vet school is between 7 and 15%, and there are only 33 vet schools in the country, it's kind of a no-brainer. Like I said- bold move, let's see if it pays off.

Daibhid Ceannaideach

Yes, but she's not bringing that up in front of the girl who was nearly drunkenly car-mudered, because she has *tact*.

Maya

Plus, Alice must have had no idea that Billie was going to IU in order to choose IU.
