Wait, Jesus was bisexual? Is that hyperbole, or is there a passage. I have a desperate need to know now.

Wombat

Hey, I just got into an argument about this earlier today on Facebook! Someone posted about Mister Rogers being bi, and someone commented with "What the hell does it matter?!" For something that doesn't matter, they sure got real upset about it.

Islandheart Studio

I knew about Jesus, but now I need to Google Mr. Rogers and find out if he was even more awesome than I thought. :O

Rook Hallan

I believe there's a bit in the Book of Mark? Google. (Of course there's "Secret Mark" but that's not what I'm talking about.)

Toby Boyd

even aside from the stuff about “the disciple who Jesus loved” there’s one piece of apocrypha I’m particularly into where Jesus tells a dude to come over naked and “shows him the mystery of god”, I might be misremembering parts but I think that was the gospel of secret mark

Rook Hallan

I love the sequence of expressions on Joe's face from panels 4–6.

Toby Boyd

being wholesome is bi culture

Toby Boyd

yea he dropped the ball there

Jen

I’d buy this strip as a bookmark

Bagge

Don't rate wholesome bisexuals, Danny.

Daniel Thoreson

I know this comic was essentially just a vessel to drop a great Mr. Rogers fact, but I really appreciate that Joe holds Danny in such a high regard right now. Even though he’s currently going through a regression, and then doubling down on it, the progress he and Danny have made with their relationship is still there. There’s something reassuring about that.

J Corwin

aw, this one should be on the main site!

HenryVolt

The information I this strip blew my mind a little.

Maude Reads Things

I can't stop laughing. Good lord, that's fun. If it helps Danny, you can be the most wholesome bisexual ALIVE.

Maude Reads Things

That is nice! It's good to know he's not regressed 100%.

Borg Lord

I have learned things today! Unfortunately, one of them is that if you Google the question of whether Jesus was bi, you find a fair number of liberal theologians who just offhand dismiss aces as being not fully human. Not cool, liberal theologians. Not cool at all.

Nina

"goodest egg of all time" is not something I expected to see Joe say. Especially so emphatically! It's... it's good.

Brenna Kathleen Crotty

I just read this about Mr. Rogers! Danny and I must follow the same people on tumblr.

Daniel Adams

It’s more like he dropped several balls in sequential order.

Daniel Adams

Danny can just be the local chapter of the Wholesome Bis.

Chris King

I remember learning to play that song on guitar when I was in college.

Inahc

and now I'm picturing danny playing the Change Your Mind song. :)

CreatorWorks

I am convinced that the apostle Paul was ace.

Avian

This is the problem with coming out as Bi/Gay, you get labeled. Jesus was good because of his actions, not because he was potentially bi, mister rogers was good because of his action not because he was bi, danny is good because of his actions not because he is bi, I am bi and wanted to be judged for who I am not WHAT I am. I don't generally like getting preachy but for a group that hates getting labeled by others we in the LGBT community sure as shit love labeling others

Staennis

If this strip were an egg, it'd be the goodest one.

Robert Nash

That's not what's being argued, he's saying they're wholesome *and* bi, not wholesome because they're bi.

Avian

It's the need to qualify it that bothers me I suppose. I just don't personally feel that being bisexual changes anything aside from who you find attractive.

Maude Reads Things

It's fine to feel that way, but for others (including in the LGBT community), their sexuality and/or gender is an important part of their life. it does change things for some of them - it changes how people treat them, their odds of employment/housing/etc., their legal rights, etc. And yeah, a lot of community forms around that. There's validation and affirmation in knowing cultural icons and religious figures share that in common with you. That's where a lot of people have the difference between labels you take and labels imposed on you. And yes, some marginalized people find power in bringing up people like them in areas where they've been pushed out - that's why there's so much focus on women in STEM or action roles, scientists, artists and intellectuals of colour, and yeah, cultural icons that are LGBT. You don't need to feel that way, but there's no need to be rude about people who do and who are excited about potential commonality with people widely beloved for being wholesome people rather than stereotypical caricatures.

NinjaZaku

This is the best TIL ive had in. Years.

Johanne

It blew up all over the internet, like this week, so even the ones who already knew have mostly not known for very long either. And I am soooooo excited.

Mark

The most daring thing about this for Danny is implying that Mr Rogers was more wholesome than Jesus :-) (Agnostic here, BTW...)

Bagge

Very true, and that's why representation is so important. In this comic alone we have wholesome bisexual Danny, tyrant* bisexual Ruth, bratty bisexual Billie, rebel bisexual Marcie and a whole bunch of others who may or may not conform to any labels. A comic with only, say, Danny or Ruth as open bisexuals would send a different message. *) or however you want to label her

Mike Klingbiel

Dunno, that sounds pretty wholesome to me

Theron Gilliland, Jr.

King David wasn't very good at being a historically-verifiable king of a historically-verifiable United Monarchy.
