I hope this is what I think it is - Ruth realizing that no matter what Billie says, or even thinks, Billie is incredibly hazardous to Ruth's recovery now, and probably in the forseeable future, and no matter how much being alone sucks, right now trying to be with Billie is a LOT more dangerous and painful.
