There's one more storyline left in year 10:  "Is A Song Forever?" goes from now until September 9!

After that, there's gonna be some changes.  A shift here and there.  Retoolings!   Maybe a timeskip of a heretofore-unheard-of quantity.   Perhaps an extremely softish soft-reboot?

Here's the mildest of sneak peeks into The Future, where it's always winter but never Christmas.

Soft reboot? 👀👀👀

Jen

My guess: something to deal with the fact that the criminal trial/depositions/any sort of plea deal at the current pace means that Blaine won’t be dealt with legally until sometime in 2053

Cat

...is that Mike with deflated hair???????

Matt Eldritch

Please just let us have a storyline of their shenannigans during Halloween!

Bagge

BUT WHAT ABOUT A HALLOWEEN COSTUME EPISODE? I WANT A HALLOWEEN COSTUME EPISODE!!! (On the other hand, I'm not in charge. I look forward to see what the future brings)

As god as our Witness, dumbing of age will keep going strong for as long as we can muster. This comic will keep going till it'll put Willises own kids through colledge if it has to....It'll all be worth it to see them on spring break.

Moonrunes

I always knew he was full of hot air. I'll see myself out.

Shane Wegner

Look at all those fighters to unlock! "Wait... what if you only get Joyce unlocked as the starter character and the rest are DLC?" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Giant Speck

I'm excited and scared all at the same time!

MatsuoTanuki

YEEEEAH!! I AM READYYYYYY! 🤩

Cat

I'd switch Becky and Billie (the haircut on the one next to Joyce looks a lot like Becky growing out her sidecut), but yeah those are my guesses too.

Michael Schmidt

Betcha there will be a format change. Willis must be pining for more real estate. He's been pushing the strip format to be as graphically innovative as he can make it, but there are limits....

Daniel Adams

Cool! But this means no Thanksgiving Break if we are skipping to Winter?

Simon Magid

Maybe the Winter King will foolishly attack only to get stabbed by Joyce

Packy Anderson

It will go to a four-panel vertical format.

DonnieRamesJio

She looks so happy and confident now!

Steve McSheffrey

Between first and second semesters in college, a ton of kids just disappeared. They either quit school or changed schools and we never knew which. Wonder if any of the cast will go that way...

NickPG

I'm with Cat on this one, and definitely Joe and no Ethan.

Michael Schmidt

Vertical, yes, but I think he'll divide it any way he thinks suits the mood of the story.

Amanda

I'm guessing not actual official winter, because real winter only starts a few days before Christmas. Thanksgiving Break could still be part of unofficial winter, it frequently snows before then.

Cryptic

I'm not sure why, but now I think I would probably play a DoA fighter. Does it make sense? Probably not. Do I care? Probably not? Too bad it goes against everythiiiiiiiing.

Maude Reads Things

How long a time skip? I'd have liked to see Halloween and some of the other stuff folks were just coming to terms with.

Simon Magid

Maybe just before Thanksgiving? I don't think Willis will just skip election night. It's kinda a major plot point for Becky (and Robin.)

Martin Krikorian

When I read “Format change” I envisioned a narrator saying “In our last episode, Joyce was trekking ever deeper into the Amazonian jungle, continually wondering how so many spiders seemed to want to invade her path...”

Lethurblaka

I'm really curious how long the time skip will be. Was hoping to see Halloween, but if winter is coming, it might skip right over it?

Mohmi

Wasn't that the tile of the Roomies arc about Danny graduating? Is this gonna be a 3 year time skip?

Betsy

Amazing! I’m looking forward to it.

fudo

Exciting news, but I'm a bit concerned about the possibility of a reboot, however soft...

RacingTurtle

There’s still time for Halloween to be part of Is A Song Forever? before the changes take place

Ashley Rodriguez

I'm excited to hear this! I have no reason to doubt you'll do the best of soft reboots. And a time skip is probably a great idea after all this.

Pooga

I didn't make the connection yesterday when I saw this originally, but this morning I realized there's a comic that spent years with its characters in a school setting before making "a timeskip of heretofore-unheard-of quantity". Mr. Willis has even referenced it in the past. Is this the future of Dumbing of Age?: https://www.shortpacked.com/comic/funky-cancer-cancer

kaitou

"forever winter"? Post-apocalypse DoA?

Zagig

Bring back superpowers please. I don't find regular humans interesting.

Maude Reads Things

Unlikely, it's nowhere near Halloween yet in story. It's only, roughly, October 20th right now.

Shay Fleming

I hope it isn't a reboot personally, no matter how soft. There are still so many plot threads in the air that I'm afraid of seeing go away. Lots of story still to tell.

Kerrin

Might be... I don't see an Ethan here.

Elphrid

Good news is that "soft reboot" usually just means setting up a new "starting point" for people coming into the story, not undoing previous continuity (at least not entirely).

Shay Fleming

@Henry, Thanks, that's good to hear :). Of course, we could also just be like my wife who just finished blowing through the entire back catalogue in a couple of weeks. (They are a force of nature.)

Reaver

Yeah, I'd also not like a reboot, soft or not, I know it's your story though Willis, and you'll tell it how you want, but there are so many plot threads and so much development that I'd hate to see it ThanosSnapped away .
