You know. I'm fifty years old and in my teens anything like today's smartphones' ability to communicate was still a dream in the mind of a few visionaries. But this strip just made me think of a few situations where I'd have loved to be able to get in touch with a friend like that, back then. Admittedly, my parents were pretty good at driving me crazy. :/

Now if he can only translate these skills back towards women he is "hunting", he can start building himself to be the type of sexually confident polyamorous guy women want to be around rather than the sort of numbers-and-game-obsessed Ed Hardy tee proto-PUA he's been so far this comic.

Yeah, I'm absolutely convinced that what allowed Joe to go forward with helping out Joyce right now is that she's off his sexual radar, as well as being direct in what she wants from him. I mean, we've seen that Dorothy and Amazi-Girl don't work in this, because he was making plans for them immediately after Danny broke up with the former, and while the latter was still dating him. He's being forced to recognize Joyce as a human being.

I read it as "desperate nearby cheerleader," just saying he'd have sex with anyone hot enough to be a cheerleader, close enough to be practical, and desperate enough to be interested. Now that I see your answer, I think you're right. Especially because, for all his objectifying women, one consistent positive quality has been his firm stance on consent, and preying on the desperate wouldn't fit into that. Nor would he feel that someone would need to be desperate to want him.
