Talk about a reversal

Andrea Andrew

I can’t tell if this was helpful or more proof that Billie needs to get her shit together.

C

There's that Billie experience we'd been missing.

Grace Serenity

Mmmm, "names weirdos made up for 'normals'". Way to help comfort someone worried about their mental health by discounting them in the same breath. That's some real Alpha Bongo work right there.

Packy Anderson

It helped because Joyce wanted to feel better about herself, and Billie screwing to pooch made her feel better.

Fart Captor

I'm pretty sure declaring herself "one of the normals" is the opposite of helpful

Bagge

That's such a difference from everyone else in this social circle

Andrea Andrew

On some level, Billie knows she’s full of it. She may not have ASD, but she’s got some disorder. Perhaps narcissism mixed with imposter syndrome. While Billie isn’t a seperate personality, it might be seen as a seperate identity by her, Joyce, and the others.

Harold

So B-Jennifer's gone from describing neurodivergent people as "nerds" to calling them "weirdos," the latter directly to an actual probably-neurodivergent person. And yet, per Joyce, it did help, by being spectacularly non-helpful. She's King Midas In Reverse!

Steve McSheffrey

I thought Imposter Sybdrome was discovered to be part of just being alive and not an actual syndrome.

IAmDeltaS

Oh Billie. Feels like you're trying to convince yourself of that, really, which I guess is business as usual for her.

Andrea Andrew

I might be describing something else. She wanted to be like the cheerleaders, so she became one. Now, she wants to be like the cool kids on the college campus, so she hangs out with them. She probably adopts traits of people she looks up to.

Harold

Jennifer's advice in panel 2 wouldn't be half bad, if Joyce and Dina could be in the same space for an extended period (without Becky as a buffer) without one of them inevitably pushing the other's buttons. As has been pointed out, just because two people are both neurodivergent doesn't mean they'll bond. But it would be nice if it happened in this case.

William Tessmer

Wow, Joyce has got a lot more sharp wit than might be expected. Surprising. Billie succeeding by failing is entirely normal, however.

Taffy

Here's a hot take: Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse was a good film

taekwondogirl

...She was laying face down into a pillow, her glasses had to have already been off.

Andrea Andrew

But most people agree with that statement.

Brenda

I think that is joke

Andrea Andrew

I know. Thought I’d carry the schtick.

Sajuuk-Khar

“Billie was always just a huge dumb-assed bongo, but in a lovable way.” “Yeah, uh, okay—“ “Like those videos of cats on the internet that just keep failing the same jump, or get stuck in a tiny box and roll around helplessly, meowing, that’s Billie, to me.” “Thanks. Great. Shut the fuck up.”

Grace Serenity

Don't you throw those for the dogs to play fetch with?

darklion

So... Joyce appreciates the J-Billie that always puts foot in mouth?

William Tessmer

That takes a lot of flexibility, it is kind of impressive.

Beck Chonigman

Well, she was a cheerleader after all.

Some Ed

Succeeding by failing is definitely better than failing by succeeding. I don't know how many times I've been blocked by accomplishing things by success errors, but it's not zero. Some of them have even been my code.

Some Ed

@taekwondogirl: as someone who's recently had to start wearing glasses for everyday life... no, they didn't have to have been already off. But it's a lot less painful to have ones head face down in a pillow if one removes ones glasses first. It's also potentially less financially painful, as one can break glasses by not removing them before face planting, pillow or no.
