Taigan

Does this strip hit different now? Kinda feels like it does.

Andrea Andrew

Joyce, not in front of the kids.

Andrea Andrew

Joyce’s bisexuality and horniness cloud her judgment.

Dan Rabin

"I've heard you and that guy negotiate starting a relationship. Isn't that weird?"

Lauralot

In college there was a period where I worked as both an art model and in one of the campus dining halls. More than once, I'd be serving someone breakfast and look up to find them staring at me in that dawning "I've seen you naked" way.

Michael-Erik

I honestly expected the Joyce/Joe conversation to eventually result in a zoom-out shot with the rest of the class just watching them and the model saying like "um...aren't you supposed to be looking at me?" or something.

Wombat

Completely missed Joyce in the last panel initially, thought it was the kid saying that, was like, "Yeah, kids do sometimes run into the room when you're naked." Went back and looked at the comic again. Get it now.

Outrider

I was going to say "well now I want to see more of her" but realized that might sound different than I'd planned in this context

Harold

Love the composition in panel 3, with half-Joyce's pinhole eye and blush of recognition. Plus the fact that she scurried all the way back behind the model again before speaking to her.

ValdVin

"I didn't recognize you with your clothes on."

Moon Goat

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Onyx

I knew it was going to be the model (I think it's a record!) but did not in any way foresee it happening like this LOL Also, DANG Joyce.

Angie Penrose

Seriously. This is a major dick move, saying that to a woman in front of her little kids. :/ I mean, there's a good chance they know what Mommy does, and understand about art? But still, Joyce needs a smack upside the head for this.

Shane Wegner

Neuro-atypicality might partially explain, but does not excuse, this social misstep Joyce!

Bagge

Quick, Joyce, ask about her shame-stick

Robert Weldon

What is that in her hand, and why is she staring at it so intently?

Harold

I think it's a burrito (it looks like this might be Taco Bell - the kids are eating what look a little like tacos). If they ARE burritos, either Joyce is there with a group and she's carrying everyone's food, or she's stress-eating something fierce.

Edwin I Callahan

I wonder if Willis will have this character stick around? A young mother with two kids would be interesting to bounce off Joyce. This young woman is what her old church would want Joyce to be now (maybe without the art modeling). Meanwhile, Joyce is in an environment where people don’t think about children at all. And Joyce right now is without a compass or any idea of what’s she for. The model does know what her purpose is -she’s got kids - but maybe this isn’t her Plan A. Could be interesting character developments based on this…maybe. Or not. But there could be good comedy bits in Joyce becoming the babysitter for some extra cash.

Harold

Joyce as a babysitter does sound comedically promising (we've already seen it, kind of, with Faz), but I'd be surprised if we ever see this character again (except maybe in future bonus strips). She doesn't even have a name yet. Also, I think sitting in on the life drawing class may have helped point Joyce's compass. I wouldn't be surprised to see her decide on art as her major.

Robert Weldon

Yea, that makes sense, but still doesn't explain why she is staring at it for four panels. And yes, that is a lot of food Joyce has, I hope it isn't all for her.

Moonlighter

I would agree, except I think the cast list is already far too large. I'd much rather we develop existing characters more than rather than add new ones.

Macareux Moine

Based on the kids (lack of) reactions, I'd say the boy knows, but the little girl doesn't

Daibhid Ceannaideach

"It's maybe weird to you. It's not weird to me, on account of being *literally what I do*."

Daibhid Ceannaideach

Doesn't have a name *yet*. Let's fix that. I propose Maureen Dell. Her friends call her Mo.

Daibhid Ceannaideach

Maybe both ends are sealed, so she doesn't know which one she should start with.

Harold

@Daibhid: "Mo Dell"? Cute, but Willis would never name a character based on a pun like tha-- [remembers "Leslie Bean"] -- um, never mind.
