Joyce is objectively correct about tomatoes

Shane Wegner

They just seem like pals to me, with a slight Dorothy mentorship vibe.

And here I am, enjoying my tomato juice, my whole tomatoes on my pizza, my tomato salads, and generally believing one can't be complete in life without the delicious sweet acidness of tomatoes...

Tomatoes are rather good in my opinion

Well since apparently we are engaging in the great tomato war of December ‘22 in here.. I literally would eat tomatoes three meals a day, in a variety of preparations from raw to sauce. My wife likes tomatoes but only in very limited ways and definitely not chunky in sauces or on dishes (unless raw). She has a lot of tomato rules. I have my suspicions about why, since she has a lot of other similar rules about tastes and textures etc but that’s a convo for anothe time. Anyways we are 1 for and 1 mostly against in this house

I wonder if Joyce has agonized on whether tomatoes are a fruit or vegetable. Seems likely.

I'm one of those weird tomato-liking people (I used to eat them like apples like Moonlighter in a higher comment) but it does get me to wondering: what is it about tomatoes that is so divisive? I suppose the texture is weird. All those pockets of juice, and as much as I personally like the texture of the fleshy bit, it is...... weird. Not AS weird as mushrooms but still a bit like a gel? Plus, the tomatoes you get at supermarkets kinda suck; they have such a dull flavor. But if someone doesn't like the flavor, wouldn't that be better? Anyway one time my coworker gave me 3 small ziplock bags of cherry tomatoes in the morning. At noon she made a comment about having enough to last me, and I was like "oh uh, I already ate all of them."

No tomatoes. They ruin everything.

I dislike raw tomatoes and don't understand how people can eat them. I'm fine with it cooked though. And weirdly enough, I'm okay with sliced tomatoes in sandwiches, but nowhere else.

He's that greenish wall directly in front of Joyce and Dorothy. That's him asking about Taco Bell in panel 1.

Years of selective breeding of tomatoes to focus on appearance, firmness, and shelf life has sacrificed the actual flavor of tomatoes, which is why grocery store tomatoes are terrible.
