Minzoku Bokumetsu

so the awkward silence is they saw Joyce talk to the model

This is going to be a learning experience...or Dorothy's going to activate her Spartan Rage.

sunnybutch

man i really feel for dorothy here, bc how do you tell your close friend that you literally look after and try so hard to protect after theyve been thru hell and back that you dont trust the guy they like without taking away your friend’s agency… ive been in her shoes before and its hard to be protective but respect boundaries bc when the inevitable hurt comes it drives you crazy knowing that you could have theoretically stopped all that from happening. at the end of the day, she’ll learn that all you can really do is just be there for your friends to catch them if they fall 😔

Joe looks pretty happy with his move. Enlisting Joyce to rebut Dorothy has its problems, but *not* correcting Dorothy's take on the situation also has its problems. Joyce and Joe look pretty sure they're in the right relative stance. Joyce's folded arms could be telling Dorothy to deal with it. There is a historic echo of Joyce with a tall Jewish guy putting his arm around her. But in that case Joyce herself put the arm there—Ethan wasn't going to on his own. I like the way panel 3 has Joe's arm in mid-motion as Joyce slides in next to him.

Knowing that Joe is actually tryin' to be a good boy here makes Joe putting his arm up for Joyce to sit close to him really cute, but I'm a little worried Dotty is gonna rip that arm off and club him with it

(Dorothy should totally try talking to Joyce about her concerns rather than trying to chase Joe off, but I 100% do not blame her at all for not trusting that Joe is taking this seriously and not just trying to get laid)

@Dan Rabin: Nice callback to the Joyce/Ethan scene. And right now, Dorothy's one Joe-hand movement away from flipping the table Amber-style.

Harold

At least Joyce is aware of the awkwardness. Now she needs to put 2+2 together and realize, "Oh! I've never talked to Dorothy about how Joe's changed. I should do that, right now!" Well, a fella can dream, anyway...

Life is awkwardness upon awkwardness, sweetie, but in this case, no that isn't why

Sure, emotionally it can be a harder or more complicated matter of course, but the logistics are pretty straightforward. If you're worried that someone is making a bad decision and want to help keep them safe while respecting their agency, start by talking to them directly Find out why they're making the decision you think is risky, and express whatever concerns you have to make sure they've considered them, and then accept that it's their choice, not yours Like, it can be DIFFICULT, but it's not complicated

Why is silence sometimes so very loud.

Curse your impeccable comic/dramatic timing, Willis!

It's probably fine
