C Bonesmith

What a thing to assume about Tristan's dad, considering that 91.9% of modern Poles are Catholic and very specifically the Polish community in northwestern Indiana is so massively Catholic that you can actually get decent pączki around Lent. Of course, she may have even more disdain for Catholics than the Jewish community given the weird Evangelical reliance on needing Jewish people to exist so that the end times can happen. So that might be a kind/charitable assumption (so far as Carol has the capacity to be kind about people who aren't Just Like Her) about Tristan's dad.

J R Quilcon

Hmm... Apparently she doesn't just LIKE the Jewish men!

C Bonesmith

It's just a little detail that I think is actually really good characterization for somebody I truly dislike. Carol immediately picks up on the little details she can later use to be discriminatory. She IMMEDIATELY puts people into categories that she can use to dehumanize them later- even members of her own congregation. It's another piece in her toolkit of hypocrisy that makes her such a realistic, nasty villain for the story.

Yes, Joyce, what happened to Ethan. Tell your mom what happened to Ethan.

Andrea Andrew

First time Joyce has discussed Ethan in a long time. I wonder what she’ll think of his situation.

Sajuuk-Khar

“Oh, right, Joyce’s mom is that kind of mom.”

Oh look, a new character to request bonus strips about

AE Gonzalez

Jacob certainly isn’t Jewish, though she might have an issue with . . . that other thing Sal’s mom immediately gets racist about.

I would like to bring in a little bright spot and point out Joe's little smile in the last panel, obviously smitten with Joyce and her badly lying antics ❤
