Zoomer is pretty good at this.

Bonus strip drops a little early this month because while I'd gotten it drawn early because I'd be on the road for Thanksgiving on the usual drop day of the 26th of the month and could schedule this post to release that day, that's also probably going to be in the middle of me saying HEY BUY STUFF FROM MY STORE IT'S CAPITALISM WEEKEND, and I don't wanna step on my own news cycle or whatever.

and it's done early so you might as well see it early

I’m going to want votes for Zoomer on future bonus strips now, thanks.

Manuel Fernandez

Thanks for this great strip and happy Thanksgiving Mr. Willis!

Harold

There has been a SERIOUS lack of Marcie post-timeskip (her few appearances since Book 10 have all been derby-related), so this is both welcome and wonderful.

Harold

I'd like to assume that Zoomer's voice is based on Carla's, so that everyone is hearing Carla all the time. As she would wish.

Captain Button

1) Are those music playing behind him, or marks on a glass wall? 2) What is it that he should not fuck up?

Pierpaolo Di Camillo

Danny is warned. Let's hope he will NEVER discover the dark side of Marcie.

Andrea Andrew

Marcie protecting her childhood crush/friend. Amazing.

GPanda

Awww I need them to be besties now

Morgan Byrd

I’ve wondered if this would come up lol

Harold

Marcie has been Googling "creative places to store a ukulele."

Nojh

Is this cannon? I'd really like it to be cannon.

Packy Anderson

Remember, Marcie has a non-reciprocated thing for Sal.

Packy Anderson

For a moment, I thought Zoomer had won the voting.

Harold

@Packy: True, but as Sal's lifelong best friend first and foremost, Marcie would undoubtedly be this protective regardless.

Jens H. (Nethead Jay)

Hahaha this is great and just so Marcie. Fits right into the story too. Nicely done Willis. Guessing that's some sort of art thing behind them, is it something that's also there on the real-life campus?

Simon Magid

Probably involving advice like "Direct sunlight is not good for ukuleles, so find someplace where they can be kept away from it."

Simon Magid

I am REALLY impressed by Zoomer's ability to translate ASL from just a simple verbal description. O.O

Dean Reilly

Ukeleles are also best kept away from garlic and holy water, and prefer to sleep in a casket containing their native earth.

fudo

All bonus strips are canon, as far as I understand

Jo Giggles

Lol I had the same thought and was wondering who Zoomer was 😅

Harold

@fudo: Our Joyce/Dorothy-shipping friend will be happy to hear this, re: the bonus strip featuring The Pharmacist Who Is Definitely Not Future Joyce and her very familiar-looking wife...

Some Ed

Nobody answered 1, so I guess I will. Yes.

Some Ed

Why, that pharmacist definitely isn't Future Joyce. Sure, the resemblance is uncanny, but...

Hope Wilson

Kinda put off by the last panel. ASL isn't a punchline. Plus I think we all understood Marcie's meaning from the first four panels

Bagge

The fact that Zoomer(tm) got it right made me laugh SO HARD

Michael E Keon

You are correct. ASL isn’t a punchline, the punchline is “Danny is an idiot.”

HenryVolt

Same here Marcie same here.

Mitsuki Ayane

yeah, the punchline is "while we understand, Danny is an idiot and doesn't" this particular webcomic has gone out of it's way to make sure ASL was an understood and respected thing (largely from Marcie here) ~<3

Onyx

YES YES YES We got Marcie AND by extension the Danny+Marcie+Sal (implied) that I've been begging for with Marcie's opinion of the relationship!!! THANK YOU Willis, is was everything I was hoping for.

Onyx

AGREED

Jey Siksa

I think the marks on the wall are windows not music, that or its "Loss"

Maude Reads Things

Perfect, A+, no notes, and I will treasure this until she shows up next

Hope Wilson

I'm not sure we're understanding each other, so I'll be a little more explicit. A handshake and a glare is not ASL. To call it ASL and pretend to "translate" it is, for me, too close to the long history hearing people have of dismissing sign languages as "just gestures" or as "not real languages". (I agree that *Danny* calling it ASL could just be him Danning it up; my bigger issue is that Zoomer concurs with him.) I agree that the comic usually feels respectful of ASL, which is why this particular strip struck me as odd.

Simon Magid

Not really necessary just to put the ukulele a place where the sun don't shine. >.>

Copied from https://200.iu.edu/signature-projects/heritage-art-campus/public-art/simon.html: Outside of the Jacobs School’s East Studio Building sits the Simon Sculpture on the corner of Jordan Avenue and Third Street, towering over traffic and reflecting sunlight with its great silver structures and shapes. The Simon Sculpture was created by Donald Gummer, an alumnus of the IUPUI Heron School of Art and Design. Both the sculpture and the surround plaza were gifts made by Cynthia L.
