Camilla, from Emperor's rewards /1 (Patreon)

This month, the Emperor's pin-up is Camilla, from my [unfinished] webcomic "Newt & Bobo". She's a military cybernetic centaur and her horse-like body has been created in order to transport a heavy energetic unit (actually a mass-fuel-drive), and then to deliver powerful blows with the cannon on her arm. The arm is still there, as you can see, she lost half her body in the "enhancing" process though. After the end of the colony war for the control of Bilqis, the mechanic centaurs were no longer useful and the companies simply abandoned them to their destiny. Camilla then recycled herself as a mercenary, in Lendra's team. Her life-span is the same of a human being, but she doesn't age because her skin, hair and so on are synthetic, so she's "frozen" in that form until death (Camilla enhanced her life span by continuously replacing and fixing her body). Someone could say it's cool, Camilla sees it as an actual legacy.

Questo mese i miei Emperor hanno scelto come pin-up Camilla, dal mio [mai finito] webcomic Newt & Bobo. Vi faccio un recap del concept di questo personaggio, abbastanza complesso da finire anche in un racconto breve nella raccolta "Tutto ciò che sappiamo sul Krondo" [Del Vecchio Editore, 2020]. Camilla è un centauro meccanizzato militare, un tipo di soldato sviluppato per combattere nella guerra coloniale per il controllo di Bilquis. Il corpo da cavallo serve a trasportare una potentissima fonte di energia (un generatore a massa compressa) che è enorme da trasportare e avrebbe causato problemi se fosse stato caricato su un normale soldato di fanteria. Grazie al generatore, i centauri meccanizzati sono in grado di scagliare colpi potentissimi con il cannone che possono installare sul braccio, e mantengono una elevata mobilità su quasi ogni tipo di terreno.

Terminata la guerra, le compagnie hanno abbandonato questo tipo di unità ritenendoli inutili per qualsiasi altro scopo che non fosse la battaglia. Camilla si è riciclata come mercenario, nella squadra di Lendra. Fun fact: la durata della vita di un centauro meccanizzato è la stessa di un umano ma il suo aspetto è quello che aveva all'arruolamento, perché quasi tutti i suoi tessuti sono stati sostituiti con tessuti sintetici anche nella parte che sembra umana (questa cosa si poteva intuire guardandole i capelli o notando gli innesti sottocutanei), molti centauri meccanizzati sono già morti nel periodo in cui è ambientato il fumetto (che mi pare sia 30 anni dopo la guerra), in guerra o per sopraggiunta obsolescenza dei loro sistemi. Sopravvivono solo quelli che in questi anni hanno provveduto ad aggiornare, potenziare, sostituire e riparare continuamente i loro corpi, come ha fatto Camilla, spendendoci praticamente tutti i soldi guadagnati come mercenaria.
