Didn't have Elf on the Shelf when I was a kid since I was 13 when the book was published (2005). My sister does all kinds of crazy things with her kids' elf (Tinsel) even now that the youngest is 10. She did regret wrapping the toilet with wrapping paper, though it was impressive. XD
