Saw this opening night with my mom. Some one in the theater threw up at the blood rave.

Some motherf***ers are always trying to ice skate uphill.

Such an awesome movie with an opening scene that sinks its teeth into you!

Great watchalong Kat. Wesley Snipes owns the role. Made for Blade.

(at around 1h 45 mins) While discussing the character of Deacon Frost, Wesley Snipes described him as the kind of guy who'd ice-skate uphill. Stephen Norrington and David S. Goyer loved the phrase so much they worked it into the film.

Pearl the record keeper was my favorite. How do you get obese as a vampire? I guess they don’t have the vegan option or make almond blood? Too much World of Warcraft and no outside time for that Nosferatu.

Blade was the OG Marvel movie. A reboot of Blade staring Mahershala Ali is in the works for 2025. It'll welcome the character officially into the MCU. I hope Wesley Snipes makes a cameo appearance. Love the reaction.

This is a good one focusing on a horror hero. Blade is probably Marvel's most famous horror character. I think this counts as part of the trilogy of movies that brought Marvel back after 90's were really bad for them. The others being X-Men and SpiderMan. I'd definitely recommend Gost Rider and Werewolf By Night if you want to check out more Marvel horror heroes.

So the first Marvel movie is Howard the Duck which was produced by George Lucas of all people. It’s fairly terrible, but has some pretty interesting effects work from ILM post Star Wars. Then there was a Punsiher movie with Dolph Lundgren. Also pretty terrible and not even in HD in English speaking nations. The only HD releases are a spanish dub which is censored. Then you get a pretty terrible Captain America movie that was originally meant for theaters but was poorly received by test audiences that it was sent straight to VHS. After that a company made a Fantastic Four movie with no intention of ever releasing it. Made it just to hold onto the rights. Then you get Blade in 1998. The most success the character had found was in a cameo of the 1990s Spider-Man cartoon. This movie predates The Matrix but shares a SHOCKING amount of similarities from slow motion dodging bullets, to the lobby shoot out and even the reveal the that world is not what you think… There are two more Blade films, but the third is pretty terrible and worth skipping entirely. Wesley Snipes was stoned the whole time, most of the movie is his stunt double and stand. The second film is pretty fantastic though. Guillermo del Toro who is a master of horror really sinks his teeth into the mythology and creates a great villain. It also ups the gore massively with some incredible practical effects, puppets and and monster make up.

Great reaction! It pairs nicely with "The Crow" for gravelly voiced quotables. See 2005's "Man-Thing" for more Marvel properties: not recommended, but, you know... it exists.

Yes, check out Blade II! Another dark world lit up by Wesley Snipes' panache. And an extra dose of panache in the epilogue, better than the first movie. (No, this ain't a spoiler!) Kat, you might hate horror movies, but I love watching you react to them! However, in your outro if the best pre-ass kicking line you could come up with was "You're gonna get it now," get back to the movies! ;-)

I'm so tickled you enjoyed this so much -- I loved it. I still remember seeing it in the theater with friends and how much the audience loved it. We were all thrilled with it. Sure, the sunblock stuff really doesn't work if you think about it, but it's an awesome, fun movie with great characters and action, and it's so much fun. Also -- as many are already mentioning, Blade 2 is fantastic -- a genuinely terrific horror/action movie with a really creepy disturbing villain.

I'm not going to say which one, but Blade does make an appearance in a modern MCU movie involving the multiverse.
