I'll rent it from Amazon Prime just to see our girl's full reaction. :-)

I remember she won an award for best female breakthrough performance, which she should have. It has been nearly 40 years since I read Anne Rice's novel, but I remember it being more sexual, and I think Claudia was younger. Unlike vampires, my memory is not that sharp. I liked the movie better, but unlike most people, I usually like films better than books. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you were going to react to this one.

There is a sequel but it's not a patch on the first one. Different actors, Different director, different production value, doesn't scratch the same itch. I'd recommend the books over the film sequel, even though the films deviate quite a lot from the books.

I love the book. I like Anne Rice. Not the biggest fan of this movie though. But hey. I loved your reactions hehe

There is somewhat a continuation of one of the character's story in Queen of the Damned. Is it a good movie? It's complicated... Did I rewatch it too many times because I was a teenager in his glorious emo years? Yes! Is the soundtrack still great? Yes!

The books are really good. I've heard they are even better if you're young, bisexual, emotional, man. I don't know. In any case, Anne Rice was an amazing storyteller and world crafter and she had some major issues with the casting of Tom Cruise until she saw the final production of the film, or so the story goes. Of course, rabidly defending a movie upon which your name is plastered and reputation veritably relies as you have written it hardly seems surprising. If you do get the chance to read the books, enjoy them and the luxurious nature of the prose. Rice wrote with a style and voice that was unique, both classic and modern at once. You won't regret it, much in the way that I never regret watching any of your reactions.

Hello Kat, new member here. I only know Vampire Lore from few sources I follow never have I read a novel of them but in this Lore some Vampires pick up unique abilities once they are turned some are unlucky. Lestat knew turning a kid into a Vampire was against the rules but he did it so Luois can stay with him. The sequel is called Queen of the Damned, it’s alright but not close enough like this movie.

There is another film called Queen of the Damned but it is based on the third book in the series. Aside from a good performance from the late Aaliyah, it doesn’t come close to this one. I highly recommend reading at least the first 3 books of the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice.
