It's a delightful tale, shame about the author. Quite frankly I myself would have left this one on your hard drive forever next to Jeepers Creepers and not shared it with the world, but I'll support you in whatever you do. The book is a little different, the character Wybie was added for the movie because otherwise half of the runtime would just be Coraline talking to herself. You said a couple weeks back that you have seen the show Chernobyl, so you know why Mr Bobinski's skin tone is so strange, and what that medal on his chest means.

Such a great kids movie. Shame that, like a lot of Neil Gaima's work, it has to be associated with a real creep. However, it doesn't change that Coraline is one of the best kids movies ever. I love that it's not afraid to be very dark and adult at times. Great reaction.

There's definitely some other animated horror movies that'd make for cool future reactions: -Mad Monster Party? (1967) -Heavy Metal (1981) -Daffy Duck's Quackbusters (1988) -The Halloween Tree (1993) -The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) -Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) -Perfect Blue (1997) -Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998) -Corpse Bride (2005) -Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) -Dead Space: Downfall (2008) -The Haunted World of El Superbeasto (2009) -Dante's Inferno: An Animated Epic (2010) -ParaNorman (2012) -Frankenweenie (2012) -Justice League Dark (2017) -Mad God (2021) -Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham (2023) -The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie (2025)

I will second the recommendation for Perfect Blue (1997). It is an amazing film, and my favorite horror film. Unlike a lot of anime from the 90's, the English dub is pretty decent too.

You should check out ParaNorman, another stop-motion film from Laika and director Henry Selick. it's a big love letter to horror as well as being a great story on its own merits.
