Think about how Nellie experienced death in Hill House. Constantly jumping through chapters of her life and re-living them. Then her monologue at the end about moments of our life falling around you like confetti. It seems like in the Flanagan universe, time only really runs in a straight line while you're in your body. Once you're free of the physical world, time is a lot less consistent.

Maybe on to the next for YOU, I have to wait until NEXT WEEK!

Poor thing, it's like being in a nightmare that you can't wake up from, and you don't know what's real. I've had nightmares where I'm in a loop, and I keep having the same dream over and over. And if I don't wake up, I think I'm going to die. But I think she's already dead. This was the strangest episode so far.

The utter confusion and then devastation of this episode is just so much 😭 I remember I needed a good long moment when I watched this episode for the first time.

I have been waiting to watch you watch Bly episode 5 ever since I saw you watch Hill House episode 5. I remember the first time I watched it I was so confused I got partway through and restarted the episode twice until I gave up and just let myself be confused. I think this is where I really developed my faith that if you just pay attention Flanagan will answer your questions eventually.

Flanagan episode 5s are always eye-opening masterpieces. The perspective in episode 5 is just so achingly confounding and compelling. The startling way it reveals what happened to Peter, and Hannah, thru the view of memories. Hannah is slipping in and out of memories. With that jumpy quality of dreams. She repeatedly returns to the memory of when she first met Owen. It's probably comforting. It's also her subconscious trying to get her to realize her DENIAL. (As her inner 'Owen' shouts at her.) To remember what happened to her... to remember that something is very dangerously wrong. Hannah's commitment to the children and her responsibilities seem to have kept her going... still interacting with everyone and in denial. But still drifting away. There's nothing more heart wrenching than Hannah desperately repeating her name and other current info to hold onto herself. Ghost Hannah trying to ground herself to the present is such a clear parallel to the dementia that Owen spoke of about his mother. RIP Hannah. Wild that she died just moments before Dani arrived. F-ing Peter!

I really enjoyed you trying to figure out what was up with Hannah.

I love how much you connect with not just the story but the characters as well. It is truly something to witness a reactor throw their all into a show and feel everything that is intended. I truly believe you appreciate shows more by doing that and it is great to experience with you!
