I find the gothic horror genre so beautifully compelling. How it's more romanticism mixed with mystery and psychological horror. A slower pace, with its remote, melancholic atmosphere. And focusing on guilt, love vs possession, and the past haunting the present. I love that it shows how we can be haunted in different ways... as we see that Dani is being haunted by her guilt. What's been done really well is the escalating progression of the of Eddie sightings. Before meeting Jamie... he's only seen as a reflection to Dani. But the more she starts feeling for Jamie... the more 'Eddie' manifests fully, and closer. The night of the living room sleepover... Dani sees his bloody hand on her bed. Dani can't stop looking at Jamie after she returns from the funeral... then 'Eddie' is behind her with his hands on her hips. Kissing Jamie... he's right there looming. Her increasing feelings for Jamie cause worse manifestations of guilt. But Dani took the big step of dealing with it by throwing her bone (his glasses) into the fire. Facing it head on, at last.
