Apologies if this has already been asked and answered but ... are you planning to watch the movie Serenity as a follow-up? I can't wait to watch this; It's been a fun ride! 🙂

I love this episode and I'm very excited for you to watch the movie! So happy that you enjoyed Firefly and I'm so down for another Kat's Pick. 48:06 - Favorite tv series outside of Firefly, you ask? Buffy & Twin Peaks, which you've already seen. I go back to the sci-fi show Sense8 (2015) every now and then, I haven't had Netflix for a while though, so it's been a bit. If we're talking about stuff outside of horror or sci-fi... Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (2012) is one of my favorite series that I think you would really like. It's very fun, has nothing to do with horror but it's charming and rad. It stars Essie Davis who was in The Babadook. I also think you could get into the animated show The Legend of Vox Machina, (2022-ongoing) based on the DnD livestreams from campaign one of Critical Role. They're short episodes, short seasons and you don't need to know any CR backstory to watch them :D

While this wasn't meant to be the final episode, in a weird, meta way it kind of works as one. Solid attempt on the theme song, that third verse is what gets everybody. Looking forward to the Serenity reaction.

I have a theory that this would have been the mid-season finale had the show been picked up, and that's why it has a somewhat solid ending. But if this had been a full season, there would have been a short break after this episode and then we would have gotten the last eight. If you cut that final clip of Early, it could have easily been a great final moment to a show (but thankfully we got the movie!) This episode's cold open is my favorite one of the series. It is so fascinating to see inside the character's heads, particularly Shepherd Book. There's just such a level of darkness in there that is unsettling to see (and Ron Glass acts it beautifully) ...and he does say during the show that he wasn't always a Shepherd...so that leaves so many great options from a storytelling standpoint. No spoilers, obvs. but there was so much speculation about what his backstory was basically from day one. And that moment with Mal and Inara?? You can see how much they want to just say what they feel and the fact that Mal doesn't think him doing or saying anything about it will change anything or matter...it's just so sad! And it's also sad that that cold open alone shows just how much potential this show had as a long-running series. There were so many things to explore and Fox decided to rob us of that and I'm still kind of mad about it. Can't wait for you to watch the movie!!

I support any and all of the shows you mentioned. I'd highly recommend Farscape or Fringe to add to those lists.

This is never meant as criticism, but just in case the plan is to upload this to YouTube in the future, I think your audio is slightly out of sync. The episode audio seems good, but at least on my end, your speech audio was not in sync with your movements. I loved watching this series with you! This was such a creepy villain, gets me every time. So glad you’re doing Serenity. Hmmm next series… my personal faves would be Star Trek TNG or Voyager, or like a fantasy would be Xena (6 seasons though), Warehouse 13 (also longer series), Burn Notice for action (plus we get Bruce Campbell!). But any one you want as Kat’s choice!

One of my favorite series was The Good Place. Not really the genre for this channel though. Maybe Jericho? I think that would make a good reaction series.

Deadwood was a great series. 3 seasons and a made-much-later movie. Timothy Olyphant. Wild West. Gritty, emotional, funny, historical - it's got it all!

If you want a good series, watch “Millennium.” It stars Lance Henriksen (Bishop from Aliens) as a former FBI profiler investigating serial murders. Also, it was created by Chris Carter (X-Files).

Battlestar Galactica is great.. hmmm favourite series... I have to suggest Band of Brothers. ...Futurama and Daria also come to mind for comedy. Coupling too. Code Geass for some anime. Mare of Easttown for a proper drama.

The Serenity film is excellent, you know you want to watch it! Favorite series? Deadwood, Chernobyl, Shoresy, Ted Lasso, What We Do In The Shadows, Band of Brothers, Shrinking, Friday Night Lights, Arrested Development, Stranger Things, Schitt's Creek, Derry Girls.

Late to the party on this reaction but you can't beat Firefly, certainly a guilty pleasure. Such a shame it was only one season. You'll enjoy Serenity, it will answer some of your questions. But with regards to others series to consider, BSG obviously that's certainly up there as one of my faves, Babylon 5, Chernobyl, Breaking Bad, Cobra Kai, The Boys, Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles and V the 1983 mini series it's very short but great for its time.

Late to the party but this is legit in my top 3 shows of all time and the movie does a beautiful job wrapping up the main story. Would not even better? Of course. But watch Serenity and you will feel a lot more content with how they book end the story.

This show, the Expanse and Altered Carbon are the top 3 Sci-Fi series IMO. After Serenity try one of those.
