Yes, Kat. It was filmed in Toronto!

Jeffrey Thomas

glad to see more horror on the channel. GDT always serves up a visual feast.

EmilyKT

OH MY GOD! This is a treat! Counting down the hours til I'm done with work and I can watch! :D

Taco Wolf

Ooooh, yes! Spooky season, here we go! This is such a gorgeous movie, I love how much Guillermo del Toro loves gothic horror. Which GDT will be next after this? The Devil's Backbone, The Shape of Water, Pan's Labyrinth, Cronos? No tricks, all are treats!

Donnie MOORE

So.....why is the reaction always posted twice? And is one prefered over the other? Also you said you liked recieving a dvd's. Where would I send one?

The Great Lopan

First time watching a reaction to a movie I haven’t seen before, fun!

EmilyKT

Just watched The Devil's Backbone the other day. Such a great movie. I think it's my second favorite GdT after Crimson Peak. But if I had to pick his best, it would absolutely be Pan's Labyrinth. That movie is a masterpiece.

K, Zachary

Yeah Kat we could send a whole bunch of DVD/Blue Rays but where do we send them? Charlie Hunnam who is Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story is in this he plays Dr. Alan

If you get on the Discord she has a PO Box listed on the #PO Box channel. Also she posts the reactions twice, once with the movie included and once without so that if you prefer, you can watch it on your own copy with a second monitor or whatever.

Thank you. I tried setting up my discord account. Im too iliterate in the process. I ended up locking myself out.

Had to turn on captions as the film volume was so low ( and the mic isn't, so cranking the volume was a bad idea ). Two great older films of his: The Devil's Backbone, and Cronos. A horror classic not by him: The Haunting ( B&W 1963 , different story than the Netflix show )

EmilyKT

First of all, you're welcome for the DVD! : ) And man oh man do I love this movie. Definitely my favorite of GdT's films...I love a gothic ghost story, and this one is so STUNNING. Both in storytelling and visually...just so beautiful to look at. The costumes and the sets are just *chef's kiss*. And they built that entire house from the ground up! And I agree with you that the movie gets better with multiple viewings...both in catching little things you may have missed, but the love story reads differently when you know where it's going. It makes it much more tragic...even though Thomas is obviously complicit and guilty, you view it differently knowing his feelings towards Edith are genuine. And I just have to share this little tidbit...about 8-9 years ago, my city's museum hosted the "Guillermo del Toro" exhibit and there were so many incredible things from all of his films! Maybe I'll share some pics on the discord, but as you walk in, you see "Mrs. Cushing", a model of the ghost and her black veiled costume (btw, she was played by none other than Doug Jones), and from this movie specifically, I got to see two of Jessica Chastain's costumes and that portrait of "Mother". It is just as creepy in person, lol. There were also tons of amazing things from Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone (two movies I recommend)...some of GdT's art collection and some Universal Horror Memorabilia! I want the exhibit to come back so I can see this stuff again.

Ally

It gets posted twice cause in one she shares the movie in a small screen and the other one is a “watch along” so you have to have your own copy of the movie and synchronize the beginning with her. I love when creators share the movie as well, but some people prefer to watch the movie on a bigger screen

Mister Lou

Jessica Chastain is the greatest! Please also check out MAMA! (2013)

Robert Raszkowski

Well it was a very pretty looking movie, as all Guillermo del Toro movies are but, those CGI ghost were horrible. Soo bad. The plot very predictable. Not scary at all. Quite boring. But eh... it is del Toro movie alright. It is good that we have KAT to entertain us with her reactions. :D Oh and more (two) thing - "Nice desolve" and... "...don't call me Shirley". ;) XD

RJ Inkglider

Reminds me of Rosemary's Baby. Her lack of survival instincts is frustrating.

RJ Inkglider

This was the first time I've found her to be compelling.

Mister Lou

You and I are not compatible.. I've never seen her in a movie where she was not compelling.

RJ Inkglider

I'm with you Kat, I don't know how a stab to the cheek could be fatal. There are some blood vessels there, but nothing that major.

Would love to see this on one of these reaction sites, some time. THE NIGHT STALKER 1972 TV Movie of The Week. Innfluenced a lot of TV programing coming after it. A little different vampire movie the time, at Chris Carter said he was innfluenced to create The X-Files series because he loved the movie so much. He wrote an episode in the fifth seson guest staring Darren McGavin. Darren had played the main character in the movie. Ironically the character played had been a founder and proponent of the X-Files program. The movie spawned a 1 season tv series by the same name. Year 2022 bought a 50th anniversary graphic novel. The movie has held up well. And "practical effects"!.

Janet McGlothern

Any chance of a Deadstream video for Halloween this year? That's one of my recent favorites!
