The perfect movie?? Found this on Prime Video if you're watching along!!

That was really fun! I know it won't count for the channel, but if you liked this story you should check out the tv show Hannibal with Mads Mikkelson as Dr. Lecter, the psychology is really great, a beautifully shot show, and pretty graphic for being on NBC. The sequel to this movie though is Hannibal from 2002, it has Julianne Moore in the Clarice Starling role. But Anthony Hopkins is back for this movie as well as Red Dragon. Red Dragon (2002) is a prequel to Silence of the Lambs. I remember Red Dragon being better but it's been too long for me to remember why. Also of note Red Dragon is a remake of the film Manhunter (1986) that has the main actor from CSI as the FBI agent and Brian Cox (the dad in Succession) as Dr. Lecter.

Looking forward to seeing you coach Jodie Foster! ... I've come across Michael Mann's "Manhunter" a couple of times recently - Brian Cox as Hannibal Lector, excellent use of Iron Butterfly, and that general Mann vibe which is usually compelling but flawed somewhere. Worth checking out if you've never seen it. Of the serial killer movies I've seen, the one that disturbed me the most was "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" with Michael Rooker. Excellent performance and believable in the worst possible way.

Woo-hoo!

Ahh, so glad you enjoyed this classic Kat. You're right, Hannibal is the sequal, Directed by Ridley Scott btw and is well worth a watch too. Silence is one of my all time favs, watched it in the cinema '91. Thrilled you were engrossed and top watchalong as always x

Brain Squeezer

As always great reaction. Fantastic movie.

Symon O'Hagan

You are not the only one to think this is a PERFECT MOVIE. It won best picture, best actress and best actor Oscars one of the very few films to do this. I think maybe "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest". So the Academy also judged it to be ten dead eyed creepy performances out of ten I hope someone adopted the cute little poodle from the pit... ssss...ssss

Symon O'Hagan

Finally you have now done THE HORROR TRIFECTA of seeing all three movies inspired by killer Ed Gein (Psycho, Texas Chainsaw and this). Don't look up Ed Gein it's really gross.

Julian San

This will probably be the first and only time Kat watches a best picture winner on this channel 😂

Jason_H

The fact that Anthony Hopkins was only on screen for 24 minutes still blows my mind. Another great reaction!

Nietzswein

Yes you should watch Hannibal! You'll love it!

Joseph A Zakutny

One of the few movies to win the Top Five at the Oscars! Best Actor, Actress, Screeenplay, Director, Picture. Check out the prequel, Red Dragon!

Jason_H

Kat blasting off into full blown horror coach at the end was absolutely delicious.

Chrispy

What a great reaction to a fantastic movie. You were always one step ahead figuring everything out! Maybe you only have 5 years of FBI training left. This was FUN!

Eddie Perkins

I didn't see this up there. This is a great movie. I'm going to watch this right now at 3 am. I can't think of anything better to do when you can't sleep.

Michael Johnson

This really is an absolutely amazing movie and I'm glad you enjoyed it! The sequel (Hannibal) in my personal opinion was a poor follow up to this movie (how do you follow perfection?). It went through quite a few rewrites, Jodie Foster ended up leaving the project and had to be recast. The prequel is definitely a much better movie. It's called Red Dragon. You get to see Ralph Fiennes give an absolutely amazing performance terrorizing families long before he became Lord Voldemort.

Eddie Perkins

This never gets old. "Aw, help that poor man get that in the van." You're so bright, but that heart. "Is this the best movie ever?" it's obviously one of them. The film won the Big Five Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director (Demme), Best Actor (Hopkins), Best Actress (Foster), and Best Adapted Screenplay (Ted Tally), making it only the third film in history to accomplish that feat. Great Reaction.

Edge

How do you know Howard Shore? All of the LOTR & Hobbit movies.

ManHind SteamCushion

The first time I noticed his name was in the opening credits for "eXistenZ": it just set the tone immediately. Another suggestion for the channel?

Edge

Oh wow. I haven't thought about that one since... I don't know. Early 2000s. Canadian sci-fi horror. Could be a good Kat reaction.

Erik Kuhnle

Asking how Hannibal Lector does the things he does is like asking How John Wick survived all that happened to him. Or how guns in movie always have more bullets than they should

Winning awards isn’t a reliable way to discern greatness. “Jaws” is one of the greatest, too and it only received two Oscars. Alfred Hitchcock never received even one Oscar for Best Director! Not one! The present consensus around “Vertigo” is that it is one of the greatest movies ever made, right up there with “Citizen Kane.” It never won a single Oscar and was only nominated for two technical Academy Awards. “Vertigo” is every bit as great as “The Silence of the Lambs.” Awards tell us nothing.

Eddie Perkins

You are absolutely right. I wasn't saying it's a great movie because it won awards. If anything, I was pointing out that it's incredible that it won all five because it is a horror movie; horror movies hardly ever get even one. So that does say something about the film.

Richard S

That movie was so creepy. Anthony Hopking knew how to eff with her mind. You can read Jodi Foster's mind but yet she surprises you. damn. Great Movie So well written

James Lopez

You had this Classic down pat. I never heard the expression "Best pump those Brakes Mister." This line alone was worth the price of admission. A few of your trusted Patrons mentioned the Film ''Red Dragon'' (Big Yes) Lastly, Much respect, continued success Miss Kat.

Michael Gehrman

Great job! Yes, this movie was perfect. The book by Thomas Harris was excellent also, which I suggest reading. There was a sequel called Hannibal, which I don't recommend.
