Hiii! Your Mods folder is about to get SO much cuter and tidier, and now that goes for Mac Simmers too!!
ModNest is a little Y2K-style desktop app that sorts your Sims 4 Mods folder for you. No more scrolling through 5,000 loose .package files!
‼️ Works on Windows 10 and 11 AND on Mac (macOS 12 Monterey or newer, Apple Silicon and Intel). Pick the download for your computer below. ‼️
What’s new in 1.1.3 ✨
ModNest for Mac is HERE! It’s the same app with the same pink look and every single feature from Windows: Preview, Organize now, Undo last run, Find Bad Mod, My Mods, Mod Sets, Check my saves, Tools and Send Feedback.
Mac extras: it opens .zip, .rar and .7z files by itself (no extra apps), picks up downloads Safari already unzipped for you, ignores Finder’s hidden junk files, checks that iCloud didn’t take your mods off your Mac, and fixes a Resource.cfg copied over from a PC.
Windows (small fix): Find Bad Mod could show “Something went wrong: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.” when you clicked Put them back. It happened when a parked mod had the same name as a different file already in your Mods folder. Now ModNest leaves that one parked, puts the rest back, and tells you which folder it’s in, so you can keep whichever copy you want. The Mac version has this fix too.
Already have ModNest? Download the zip for your computer below. The Mac version is a free update, so you don’t need to pay again!
Also fixed in 1.1.3 ✨
Organize no longer stops at the very end with “You do not have sufficient access rights to perform this operation.” Now a folder or file your computer won’t let ModNest move is skipped, everything else gets sorted, and it’s listed in the report under “Couldn’t move”.
What it does
Sorts all your CC automatically: hair, makeup, clothes, shoes, accessories, pets, Build/Buy, gameplay mods and more. It reads what’s inside each file, not just the name.
Grabs new downloads from your Downloads folder and unpacks .zip, .rar and .7z files for you.
Sends downloaded Sims, families and lots to your Library.
Moves broken, duplicate and game-breaking files out of your Mods folder safely (it never deletes anything).
Updates made easy: download a newer version of a mod and ModNest swaps it in for you, keeping the old one aside just in case.
Preview mode shows you where everything will go before anything moves.
Undo last run puts everything back exactly how it was.
Find Bad Mod: if your game says “Unable to start,” it helps you find the exact file causing it in just a few launches.
My Mods: every file with its picture. Search, turn mods on/off, rename, and save Mod Sets (like “Legacy save” or “Build only”) to switch in one click.
Check my saves: see which CC your saves and saved Sims actually use, and which you never use.
Tools: Health check, back up your Mods folder, clean empty folders, and clear the thumbnail cache.
Report: you get a report after every run showing what moved, duplicates and mod conflicts.
Look: pink Y2K style, or switch to a clean modern look in Settings.
Made for HUGE Mods folders: tested with 100,000 mods.
How to install on Windows
Download ModNest-1.1.3.zip (attached below), right-click it and choose Extract All.
Close The Sims 4.
Open ModNest.exe. It finds your Mods folder automatically.
Press Preview to see what will change, then Organize now.
“Windows protected your PC”? That’s normal for new apps from small creators. Click More info → Run anyway.
How to install on Mac
Download ModNest-1.1.3-Mac.zip (attached below). Safari unzips it for you, so double-click ModNest-1.1.3-Mac.dmg in your Downloads (if you still see the zip, double-click that first).
A pink window opens: drag ModNest onto Applications. Then eject the ModNest disk in Finder’s sidebar.
Close The Sims 4 and open ModNest from your Applications folder.
The first time, your Mac says it can’t check ModNest. That’s normal for apps from small creators (ModNest isn’t signed with Apple yet). Click Done, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway next to “ModNest was blocked”. It asks for your password once. (macOS 14 or older: right-click ModNest → Open → Open.)
Click Allow when ModNest asks for your Documents and Downloads folders. It finds your Mods folder automatically.
Press Preview to see what will change, then Organize now.
After you update ModNest on a Mac, macOS asks one more time: just do the same Open Anyway steps again.

Tips
New to mods? No problem! The first time you click Organize now, ModNest sets up all your folders for you.
In the game, make sure Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed are both on (Game Options → Other). The Health check in Tools checks this for you!
Changed your mind about a run? Just press Undo last run.
Shortcuts: Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+7 (Windows) or Cmd+1 to Cmd+7 (Mac) jump between the pages.
On Mac, the ModNest menu at the top of your screen says “About Avalonia” (that’s the toolkit ModNest is built with). It’s harmless! ModNest’s own About is Cmd+7 and Settings is Cmd+5.
Found a bug or have an idea? Use Send Feedback inside the app. It helps me fix things fast!
Thank you SO much for supporting me so I can keep making tools like this! 💗
