Hey Chris, do you think the People's Liberation Army would ever stage a coup d'etat? In an older episode you mentioned Xi's efforts to rally the PLA under his unified command. I'm curious about the current mood among the PLA as a whole.

The problem is that the PLA answer directly to the party. The PLA is an arm of the party and as such swears allegiance to the party first, unlike most other standing armies of the world whose mandate is the protection of the nation.
