The reaction from the police and government makes no sense. The 5 demands are not asking for anything substantial. It’s not like they are fighting for independence. They just want a bill to be removed, a proper investigation of the police and suffrage. It should never have got this far.

CCP is authoritarian and cannot tolerate any resistance to their demands. Historically when one country takes over another it was very difficult when majority of native population resisted. Seems to me China will take over HK by any means even if rest of world gets upset.
