US Sends Navy “Strike Groups” to South China Sea

The US just sent 2 US Navy Strike Groups to the South China Sea, including the USS Nimitz and the USS Ronald Reagan. It just so happens to come as China conducts it's own navy drills near the disputed Paracel Islands. Since the coronavirus pandemic, the Chinese Communist Party has been aggressively pushing it's territorial claims in the South China Sea, including actions against Taiwan, Vietnam, and the Philippines. And this is on top of the territorial dispute with India over a disputed border. But was this US freedom of navigation operation a step too far? I cold not resist adding this: "According to the institute's latest research, Russia has 6,375 nuclear warheads, including those that are not deployed, and the United States has 5,800. By contrast, China has 320, France 290 and the UK 215. "Saying that the small number of nuclear warheads that China possesses poses a threat to... US security, when the US has 6,000, I don't think that stands to logic," Fu said. "I can assure you that if the US says that they are ready to come down to the Chinese level, China will be happy to participate the next day. But actually, we know that it's not going to happen. We know the US policy." In logic this is called poisoning the well so your opponent looks dummy before he starts. But it is such an old dodge that it can be...ludicrous.

ChiCom diplomacy is basically hollering at the other guy until he acquiesces. It is called brow beating.

I wonder what the environmental damage will be when the man made islands collapse and all the fuel and other contaminates end up in the SCS
