Do we have any hard numbers on how many foreign nationals are living in mainland China at the moment? How hard is it for them to leave China through legal means in this day and age?

David Michael White

Chris, if you could go to a country that you haven't been to before on your next China scoop, which one would it be?

Greg

I believe it's about half what it was at the peak, though I don't remember the count. Many people left quickly once they could after they experienced Covid-19 measures. There has been a general shifting of government rhetoric toward foreigners in a negative direction. It's a very strange dichotomy, on the one hand they court foreign investment, while on the other hand, they are increasingly treating foreigners with suspicion and driving them out.

I'm one of the people who gave a trip to China a hard pass. I originally planned to travel there in December, but canceled plans due to the downward spiral in relations. It makes me sad, but not as sad as spending time in a Chinese prison.

Hey David. Out of curiosity, was your question meant to be here?

David Michael White

@Ian Crap, did it again. Sorry about that. 😑 By the way, congrats on having your question answered. 👍🎉

Ian Pendleton

Thanks, and no worries about the question, mistakes happen.

Hi Chris chappel how's it going

Tony

If you live in United States I would stay there. Not worth traveling overseas right now IMHO.

Hey Chris, We know that many of the Chinese billionaires were asked to "donate" money to the CCP as a show of loyalty. But will happen when they run out of money? Will they get pushed to the side and forgotten or do they end up in jail?
