I think Eleven does sacrifice herself and Mike uses his theory as his coping mechanism for moving on, so he can imagine she got the happy ending the rest of the party did

The guy in the cave does deal with the play, he stole it and ran to that cave where Henry gets infected and goes into the void for the 12 hours shown in the play, also the play in the high school with max, el and kali is the one from first shadow

So I will say I don’t think the finale is awful in and of itself, but due to it failing to solve most of the horrendous problems with the rest of the season, on top of the fact it has multiple clear flaws on its own, I think it’s a bit absurd to rate it as highly as you guys do, however that’s just my opinion, and I’m glad you guys were able to enjoy it that much 👌

So Andrew dislikes Homecoming due to Spider-Man doing nothing the whole movie, but then won't even dock a point for Vecna and the Mind Flayer doing absolutely nothing for the whole season (and especially the finale) besides dying in the final battle that lasted like 6 minutes? Interesting

9/10 I think epilogue could’ve been longer like Alex was saying, and I feel like the cut to black for Steve was not the best decision personally. I think it was an instant tell that Steve was going to be okay. But the reveal of it being Johnathon was excellent. Just wish it was all one take. Just the smallest of knit picks but otherwise I had a great time with this finale.

My theory on no creatures or demagorgons in Dimesion X is the mind flayer melted down all the creatures liek it did with the rats in season 3 and formed its body from the flesh of all the monsters and creatures in Dimension X, every time weve seen the mind flayer, it was cloud form, idk just a theory

What I will say about the finale is that I am so happy that they did in fact play it safe. I was discussing with a friend how there truly is no good show that kills off their character successfully, like you could argue game of thrones but just look how that ended. Do I have bias towards this absolutely. This show started when I was just starting high school and has been the thing that I have looked forward to for 10 years. That fact that I paused and saw that there was just going to be 40 mins of epilogue was amazing. Everyone got to be happy, including me and the moment the kids put their books up and Mike shut that door is something I will never forget. Truly a once in a lifetime show and I just hope that the spin offs come even just a little bit close to this level of quality.

Hey so I never comment. I am a big fan. I will continue to be a fan, but this review feels very disingenuous. This ending for stranger things feels like absolute dog shit. 10 years plus of building up the mind flayer and vecna just for the full battle to be 10 mins in a 2.5 hour final. No one was even hurt. (not dead, but not even HURT). There is more issues with this final, but that's the most egregious. How is that not even mentioned. perhaps in the future after a rewatch, you'll understand. I don't mean for this be an attack, I truly don't. I think you're just lying to yourself. A 9 or 10 is outrageous, at 7 at most. I will continue to support the patreon, because I'm a fan. I will still be watching, even if you don't agree with me.

Im not letting the hate get to me, I thought that even with the plot holes and questionable dialogue throughout the season, it still gave us the most important thing which is the overall love for these characrters, the one on one scenes, giving most of the main cast a moment and just an emotional and fantastic epilogue. As someone who actually grew up with the show as a kid to now recently an adult, this show will forever hold a special place in my heart

One of my main things that I haven’t seen anyone talk about is that 11 “sacrificed” herself so that the government could not get a hold of her blood for testing. But wouldn’t they do the same thing to will? Because isn’t he very similar to Vecna? Because Will was able to leave and live a normal life, which is very weird.

I stand on this opinion until the day I die, MIKE GOT SHAFTED in the finale. Everyone got a relatively happy ending and I don't believe Mike did. He deserves better. I understand that it's difficult to write it where Eleven stays around for Mike, but I'm just upset for him. So glad I got to see you both at the event, thank you so much for the experience. I kinda really love that it went from a supernatural show to aliens. I like that. The explanation for the mind flayer is that it's just an alien. At least that's how I interpreted it.

You gotta understand, after season 2, stranger things is lowkey slop. You gotta go into it with low expectations. The boys are rating this episode based on its possible ceiling. This finale was really the best it could’ve been and that’s because it’s capping a series that has been falling apart for yearsss now. You can poke a million holes in it, nitpick plot holes, but at that point you’re asking the show to be something it’s not.

I was a stranger things "hater" the first watch, but rewatched it (due to season 5) and became a fan. I highly disagree this is a "fan" ending or which that would satisfy alot of fans. The final season shows it became too big for itself, wanting to give resolutions to threads but doesn't commit to anything the fans wanted. i dont want to be categorized as a sub genre of a fan when critiquing the mess that is season 5, the messy plot holes (suprised its not a problem for yall) , not commiting to kill characters, and the fight scenes. It was held to a standard that was created by itself, the build up, long intervals of releasing seasons, the staff of the movie hyping it up, and it was underwhelming for the conclusion.

I watched the show the same time as Alex and overall it was an enjoyable experience it’s not one of my favorite shows of all time but it’s a good show . I feel like some of the characters shouldn’t have made it out alive but it is what it is and I think 11 is 100% Alive because if she wasn’t they wouldn’t have shown us

No demogorgons while they're in the upside down They kill the bad guy in 5 minutes There's minimum 3 fake out deaths Nothing interesting happened, as in this is exactly how every story has ever gone Mike did nothing Mike and Eleven had negative chemistry the entire season to the point people thought they had broken up The acting was terrible There were multiple useless plot points that were never resolved or resolved off screen The fact the mindflayer particles were still swirling means they didn't win, so it was useless anyways The second half was fine, people got their good endings, but if you care any amount about the plot this was a devastatingly bad finale

I find it kind of offputting how they find the "not just friends.... *long pause*" so funny, as, although they're straight A lot of people who love this show are queer, and during this time especially queer representation matters So to jingle keys in front of queer peoples faces as they're being oppressed, as they have almost NO space in media, even though stranger things is ABOUT the outcasts I find that nasty, not really funny but the straight white guys got a laugh so this is actually the good ending

I’m not gonna lie season 5 is by far the worst season with the worst penultimate episode as well as finale. I love stranger things but there was zero stakes at all when Steve fell I rolled my eyes knowing he was gonna be “miraculously saved by a hand”. These things really took me out of the finale as a whole, just was really a mid season of television

Glad so many people enjoyed the finale and season 5, but it just didn’t get me like it apparently got many people. Got very bored with all the fake outs and had zero stakes the entire season. No hate to anybody who enjoyed it, it just didn’t get me like that. Also dialogue and writing was subpar at best imo

After finishing the review, I am so glad to hear how much you both loved it. This show held such a place in everyone’s soul over the last decade. Maybe it was safe, but to end in such a way was so beautiful in my opinion. It’s rare these days for something so big as this to end in a way that has everyone contemplating the last decade of their own lives and where they started and where they ended.

I hate the constant GOT comparisons. A show that swung for the fences was Mr robot or something similar and it works. We shouldn’t be applauding a show for not taking any chances in its 5 season runtime

I think the game of thrones comparison is unfair bc the duffers loved this show and loved making it and the game of thrones directors stopped caring about game of thrones once they got that Disney starwars deal and they stopped putting effort into the show. Then the ending flopped and they got there starwars deal revoked bc of how bad the ending was bc they stopping caring. So comparing them in my opinion isn’t fair bc one set of directors cared about their show all the way through while the other director pair cared up until the last three seasons

I say 8/10 for the finale, it was solid. But I never felt I was truly on the edge of my seat with how many fake out deaths there have been. Also feel like the final battle should’ve been way more difficult and should have been an absolutely grueling battle. Liked it tho overall

The issue with social media now is people go crazy with theories and predictions and they make their way around the internet, that it’s a GUARANTEE fans are disappointed because it’s not an out of this world finale like some fans are writing. It’s a good finale, it’s just unfortunate some fans had some very interesting and fun endings that could have been cool as well.

Do yall think the internet is valid for thinking ST5 is mid? I personally understand but am not bothered by the things and generally enjoyed it. It clearly contains the lowest points but has incredible highs. I think people are valid in saying its bottom of the franchise but that’s it for me.

The cave is 100% a play reference. It is mentioned constantly throughout and we also get the explanation of where the “rock” is from. The play is mostly to explain Henry’s origin and why he matters to the universe. Also, there is a theory that a character from the show is the same as the singer who sang“At Last” for Joyce and Hopper at the restaurant
