I see where Todd is coming from with the AI, about jobs always being taken. And yeah, art is way different from normal jobs, and you can’t dis-value what someone else values even tho it’s AI. If they like it, then they like it. It’s objective and yeah deep down it’s can be argued that it’s wrong being it isn’t human made

car manufacturing almost all automated now though and has been for a while. the point is that every innovation puts people out of jobs, its a bad innovation if it doesn’t. The economy will always rework itself. the wheel, the internet, streaming, the amount of jobs these things have taken are insane, but the opportunity it creates for new jobs is also amazing. People have to stop being resistant of the future and just accept the reality of it.

the whole point of art is that its the expression of human ideas identity and experiences through imagination and creativity. technically what he is saying is true because when u ask AI to make something, ur still telling it YOUR ideas and using YOUR creativity instead of actually drawing it. what u actually lose with AI is the skill, not necessarily the art, and yes skill is part of art but you’re still maintaining everything else especially ur creative imagination and what you’re trying to express.

I Was hoping Alex would challenge Todd’s AI take. It’s obvious he was caught off guard by the answer but I believe maybe telling him your point of view on it would have been very beneficial as compared to not saying anything at all. No hate still love the episode and the Pod but I disagree with Todd and his AI opinion. I just wish they would have gave him some more pushback on it.

I mean, as someone currently writing, drawing, and developing a comic, I have seen loads of fully AI generated comics and companies using Ai in all their adverts. I mean it just doesn't look good/right either. He's a great comic artist, clearly, but just a really bad take on it

This is the one of the only places I can go to not think about how difficult life is right now. I have a mom that refuses to see my little brother because of her being irresponsible. Nothing but love and respect to Todd, but I can’t help but wonder if his take on AI in the art world would be different if he was still currently an up and coming artist bs being as established as he is. I’m a huge fan of his work, along with Rob’s, but I must say the podcast was the first time I’d ever heard either of them talk about stuff. I had only consumed their artwork and writing before. I think they have a great story with image, but I’ll be honest there are times I just feel they’re pretty full of themselves. They have very cool perspectives but it’s like every chance they get they’re just hammering the fact that Deadpool under me sold x amount of money or spawn is the only thing I know about or care about now so it’s the only thing I’ll talk about. Idk, they just felt a bit arrogant in comparison to Kirkman who was extremely humble. Still cool to see them on the pod though.
