"New" is, once again, a relative term: it's been sitting in my google docs for a long while. Part of the reason for this is that this particular one was fairly experimental. Not for the story in and of itself, but for how it came to be in the first place.

I was actually testing out my {CRO} guide on a new character I had made on Spicychat! Things went along just fine, I had fun - all standard procedure, really. But as I reached a conclusion, I had an idea: what about taking the literal raw chat log and adapting it into a proper short story?

As it turned out, this process was a nightmare! I've talked plenty about the writing struggles and all of the weird hangups that AIs have when it comes to creative writing (check out the about section of Spirit of Hunger for that), so I am not going to repeat myself.

I figure this short little paragraph should get the point across.

It wasn't just a mess—it was the greatest struggle that Dark had even undertook. His knuckles whitened, his Logitech MX mini whined as his fingers thumped thumply on the grey squares—this was to be the greatest challenge of his life. He was frustrated at the model lack of nuance and free exposition of his character's emotions—who wouldn't??

*laugh track*

His knukles whitened even further—things were getting repetitive. His brow swetted.

DeepseekV3 really is a chaotic piece of work, let me tell ya. It yearns to be a funny little guy. Great for roleplaying! Less so if you want something with actual substance behind it.

***Tell you what: why don't I give you the actual, raw chatlog too? It's... not good, but some of you might get a kick out of seeing what rolls came up. Admittedly, it does show you why the story went in the direction it went, and not another. It also shows what I had to do to keep it in the right direction! Instructions like:

Word of advice, Spicychat's really bad if you only play with its free models. Still, the personality section and greeting I used are not hidden - you are free to copy and paste them inside any other platform (Janitor.ai, for example), I really don't mind.
