In my (I'm sure unpopular) opinion, this movie has only one redeeming quality. It brought out my favorite version of Miss Dawn, Hungry and Confused. Now if we can just figure out a way to imbue her with magic....

On the 80s Kim Cattrall thing id love you to see Mannequin. Its ultimate 80s so bad it's quite funny nonsense! Actually that would be a great poll, 'So bad it's good!' I nominate Mannequin and 'Fatal Games' aka 'The Killing Touch'- so good they named it twice!

One of the most enjoyable films ever! I think it's a bit like The Breakfast Club: you kinda need to watch it at a younger age where you can just appreciate the bonkersness, like TBC where you relate to the kids in detention because you're younger. I watched Big Trouble (and House) countless times from about the age of 10 and up and I still love it now. TBC I watched when I was past 30 and thought it was crap and this kids are mostly dicks...caught it too late. BUT Big Trouble is John Carpenter's love letter to the old martial arts films from the Far East. IMO you should watch it again because Kurt Russell is absolutely not the hero; Dennis Dunn (Wang Chi (haha, what a name) is! Jack Burton is the typical 80s American: all mouth and maybe some trousers but in this he's way out of his depth. He talks more than Wang Chi, but Wang is the one who does all the heavy lifting, especially in the fights because Jack is just a gobby trucker and is outclassed by every martial artist in the film. Hell, I think even Eddie is more competent at deleting enemies and Jack wins in the end literally by reflex, not skill or talent. LOL
