2 for 2! More James Stewart for the list: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Harvey, The Philadelphia Story... Lloyd Christmas, Michael Scott, Jake & Elwood... Well-done, Scott! 👏 Keep up the great work! ☺️

Rustlin' up? Fixin' to be joined? You're really getting into this thing aren't you? 😅

Corman Rockwell

This was a major breakthrough for Anthony Mann who directed a total of eleven westerns, most w/ James Stewart and all of which bore his personal stamp

I am very impressed that you chose to watch Winchester 73. Very nice!

Jimmy Walker

FYI. Jimmy Stewart was in 17 movies with the same co-star. The co-star was a horse called Pie.

Robert Inman

An original Winchester 1873 One of a Thousand sold last year at auction for $450,000.00

Dawn Marie, professional smile-maker ☺️... Lola was Shelley Winters. Remember the nice, heavy-set lady in Poseidon Adventure who was going with her husband to visit their grandson in Israel? Same lady. Long, amazing career. Even played Roseanne's grandmother on 'Roseanne' & was instantly the most likeable member of the family. Except for Dan, I guess 😄... I'm getting Unforgiven vibes for Wed. The tease was "I guess there are just no good newer Westerns". Ha!

I've a lot of original Wichester 73s. My dad had a company called Antigue Arms and I worked with him for years buying and selling such antiques traveling all around the U.S.

Dawn, Westerns were a popular genre since the dawn of film making..1890s through the 1960s. There's literally countless to choose from, that's why there are so many that are considered classics. Even when major studios started focusing on other genres like Musicals, etc, there were still hundreds of lower budget Westerns being cranked out every year. The 1950s were the peak for Westerns. During that decade there were approximately 90 Western themed TV shows that aired on the 3 major US networks. More Western films were made in the '50s than all other genres of film combined. By the late '60s with the emergence of "revisionist" Westerns and Spaghetti Westerns, interest in the genre as a whole had waned and practically dead by about 1975. In 1985 the release of Eastwood's Pale Rider and Lawrence Kasdan's Silverado marked a resurgence, with Pale Rider being more in the revisionist style, and Silverado leaning toward a return to the classic. There are good new Westerns as well, but there are a lot fewer to choose from. And as always, everyone has their own favorites, so the list will change with each person you ask. So if you ask 10 people for their top 10, some will overlap, but you could easily end up with like 80 films...and probably a couple shite ones.

Dawn, remember the Blues Bros Band playing the theme from 'Rawhide' to win over the crowd at the country bar? That was one of the big Western TV shows of the 50's Bill is referring to that the band must have watched as kids. It stars one of your favorite actors as a young man. Keep that ice-water bath at the ready when you watch it! 😅 And the boys in 'Stand By Me' sang TV Western themes as they walked. 'Have Gun, Will Travel', I think, was one.
